Coding 101 is a great course to spark one's interest in programming. The way Altcademy teaches coding concepts is different from other free courses I've taken. Rather than beginning with looking at code or a specific language, they focus on getting you to think like a programmer through different fun (and challenging!)... Read More exercises. All my life I imagined I would never be able to do anything related to programming because I "wasn't good at math," but doing this short program showed me that just like anything, it takes practice and a shift in how you think in order to solve problems the way a programmer does. I want to take more courses with Altcademy, and will most likely sign up for their Front End program. I also have been doing extensive research for weeks on different programs, and Altcademy is not venture-backed, so they can deliver great content and mentoring at a fraction of the cost to other programs; and, when I asked for a syllabus for their other courses, I got a 24 page detailed document (other programs gave me a vague, 2-page document). This all just gave me some more trust in them as a program--it doesn't feel like they are trying to make money off of you. I feel like I can really, actually learn coding even though my whole life I assumed I never could. This is a minimal time investment and it's free, so I highly recommend it!
