A very important factor for me is that even after the program I still have access to a great community as well as all the materials.

BG: I am a PhD student in biology, and I wanted to learn ML to use it in my work. I joined their part time data science bootcamp for six months.
Pros:
Small class sizes:... Read More I attended this bootcamp with two other students. We had one lead instructor, and two TAs, so we got all the attention we needed
Super affordable: that was the reason I chose them. The tuition was around CAD 3,500. But I also got about CAD 1,000 of discount (taking advantage of their women in tech program, and early bird registration) *and* I chose an installment plan over three years at no extra cost. The security deposits of the other bootcamps I was looking into were higher than my total tuition…
ML intensive: Another reason why I had chosen this bootcamp over the other ones was their curriculum which goes deep into lots of ML concepts
Great staff: everyone was very nice and the teachers were excellent

Cons:
Small class sizes: if you are looking for networking opportunities/a large alumni network, this can be a problem. Not sure what their class sizes/alumni network look like nowadays, but that’s something to keep in mind
No guaranteed job outcome: this was not a problem for me, since I was only looking to learn ML techniques to use for my thesis. When I was researching other bootcamps, I saw that some of them offered to refund your tuition if you didn’t get a job within a few months
Time zones: their classes/staff are in the German time zone, so six hours ahead of me. This was not an issue for the part time program that I took, but I can imagine it would be very hard to do it full time (their classes were live. Office hours were flexible)
Very intense program: they told me I would need to spend something like 15 hours a week between the lectures and homework (iirc). I ended up spending more like double that amount of time. At the end of the day, it was worth it because I learned a lot of very valuable concepts, but this is a big time commitment

I had a good experience with their cybersecurity bootcamp that I have completed earlier this year. Definitely start searching for your job before you complete the program, though, as I had waited until I completed my final project to apply, and it took me more than a month to start getting interviews.

The relationship with the CLA Teaching staff is very friendly and I feel very welcomed. I am treated with all the respect and everything I need, from information to support materials, is provided. CLA’s Career Services Center has been attentive to me and has already provided me with great information about improving my resume. All the time and energy I am investing in this learning is already turning into a great gain in knowledge.

From this bootcamp I really learnt some things and It was totally engaging. Even though it's full time I don't even know how 3 months got over so soon even after completing the bootcamp I feel joining sessions and improving myself.

I’ve tried to continue learning over the years using other courses such as freecodecamp, Udacity, Udemy, LinkedIn learning, YouTube tutorials, and so much more. I’m neurodiverse so my style of learning can be different than conventional teaching methods. It’s difficult for me to pay attention for long periods of time, so having the courses recorded and being able to go back and review them allows me to absorb the information.

This is where Code Labs Academy is a clear winner! I'm a person with neuro divergence who needs many different types of material to be able to learn something which Code Labs Academy solves! There are live sessions, lectures, extra help, reading material, etc. The class size is excellent and myself and the other student feel like we are on the same team and collaborate on projects and share work. When one of us is confused, sometimes we can help each other out of the rut and I love this type of learning environment!

All of the teachers and staff have gone above and beyond to help me understand concepts. My classes happen 3 times a week and I look forward to them. If you’re more inclined to read material they also have an amazing portal where the information is available to you at any time and you can read material before the course.

The classes are recorded in case you miss a session and there are also extra help sessions to help you through it all. Even when I can be a frustrating student the teachers are always positive and encouraging. If we need to understand something visually they will change up their lesson plan and create a jam board or use another resource to help.

We have a few different teachers which is a huge bonus because they have different teaching styles that complement each other very well. If you feel that you didn’t understand one you can always get a different explanation from another.

I’ve been able to apply a bunch of concepts that I learned from Code Labs Academy in my work and felt that I have a much stronger foundation of the material. I’ve been able to build some very simple projects so far and so with time I’ll be a pro!

Overall, I’d highly recommend this course and I have even thought about taking another one of their courses.
