Read More at Coder Academy at first, I had a feeling that this is going to be a good opportunity for me to get a guide on a daily basis and make friends who have similar dreams. Yes, it was!! Every day I've found myself struggling and making a progress in the end. You will have amazing peers and teachers who are helping you be happy with your coding journey. Lots of motivations and team tasks would make you strong as time goes by. After the end of the whole classes, the internship opportunity is invaluable. I have been lucky enough to get two job offers at the end of the internship. You will find how much support you are getting from Coder Academy even when the course ends. Don't be surprised at seeing you being vulnerable if you take things hard. That's totally fine. There are always people around you at CA. I really value the course. Remember that you are not going to give up and continue to work hard even though you think it's super challenging for now. One day you will look back your past and see how amazing you are.

Some of the lecturers are from industry so they aren't always great at teaching. They are really knowledgeable but sometimes pretty dry in their presentation.
Most of the staff and TAs are quite supportive when you ask questions.

Discrete maths subject was pretty good.
Good for meeting other like-minded students.
Industry mentors and field trips are good for seeing how other teams work, and are really good to hear first-hand.

Before going to Coder Academy, I was working a job that I had no passion for, or was... Read More challenged in. I had finished University and thought I can't be doing this for the rest of my life. I had no idea on how to code, or even the mindset you should take when tackling these big problems. My friend was a developer and I was always interested in the problems they solved, so I decided to give Coder Academy a real go.

In my opinion, Coder Academy really separates itself from the pack for 4 key reasons.
1) The staff are amazing, and really care about you as a person and want you to succeed. One of the annoying things about finishing is I don't see them as much as I use to!
2) You will be surrounded by like minded people who you really learn from and grow with. This sort of environment will expedite your learning!
3) 27 Weeks instead of 12 weeks like other bootcamps. In my opinion the concepts you cover cannot be absorbed in 12 weeks and I really enjoyed the longer time.
4) The internship! I was not hired where I interned, however the learning experience was fantastic. Lucky enough I was able to get a job after because of the contacts provided for me by Coder Academy.

You get what you put in, and if you truly immerse yourself in this experience I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Ask lots of questions! Go to meet-ups! Go to Hackathons! You are in a place where your learning is number one priority and if you make it yours then good things will naturally follow.

Overall, the course will not teach you everything about coding, but that's not what is important. What is important is learning how to learn and loving it, since that's what your life will be as a developer. This is a fantastic launching pad for your career and I wish anyone who does it good luck and to have fun!

This full time bootcamp was a intensive experience that drew knowledge by some really amazing teacher. By the end of the course i had a great understanding of the basics of being a full stack web developer.
They pair you with some great companies for... Read More a internship of which many people from the course got hired, and the school helped those who didn't with introductions and interviews to find jobs after the course. During the internship the skills i had picked up served me well to accomplish the work with minimal amounts of senior assistance, and I have since gone on to produce a number of full stack applications.
The course is full time and you need to be willing to put in the hours to take on so much content. But if you put in the effort there are huge amounts of resources at your disposal to draw upon, on top of the course work, there as mentors, tutors, senior teaching staff, industry talks, job placements, your class mates and more.

Teachers were as good as they can be for people that have no direction. They didn't even know what they were teaching the following day making it hard to keep up. I attained my own internship as their program isn't a part of the course anymore and I wasn't informed. This is just free labour now and I tell the host organisations to be very careful taking on interns as they could get into trouble from fair work and it is out of their control because of the lies Coder Academy sells to the companies. Beware, people, alot of money and time off a paid position for something you can learn on LinkedIn or Udeny or the many other courses available. There is a reason GA is number one in the market. They know what they are doing and following the rules and regulations of education.

Compared to many other boot camps, Coder Academy stood out to me with its 6-month program with a 1-month internship included.

Right off the bat, the pace of the course was unrelenting, with focus on development and programming principles using Ruby during... Read More the first couple of weeks, sprinkled with some computer science topics before moving on to HTML/CSS and within a month we had begun work on our first portfolio websites!
Design and planning principles are also thought as we learnt how to brainstorm on making our own web application using Ruby on Rails in our second term. I will update this review as we go into our third term.
There is also active job support from the school, with key personnel keeping tabs on students, getting to know us personally, so that we can be matched for our internships!

The tutors who made this happen quickly built a friendship with everyone in the class making the overall course fun and each day something to look forward to. Upon finishing my last semester of classes, I realised I had come from knowing absolutely nothing to having a clear view of where I was heading, with a newfound confidence in my ability to achieve. The support did not end there however as the academy began networking with dozens of companies to ensure we all had internships, allowing us a foot in the door of our industry. I have never known a school to be so effective and supportive and absolutely have to recommend Coder Factory to anybody thinking of walking down the path of a developer.
