Read More The curriculum, teaching format and practical work I did was all extremely useful and well-presented, and I deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and continuous assistance from our technical coaches during the 3-months course. In addition to the amazing education I received, the Concordia Career Services had a huge impact on what happened post-graduation. With a tailored program to help you maximize your chances of securing a job after you graduate (including one-on-one meetings with a career coach, a technical coach and career fair opportunities), I was able to get an offer within 2 weeks after the course ended. At the end of 2020, I was taking a leap of faith and doing a career change, and after doing this course, there is no doubt in my mind I would make the same choice all over again.

I'm so happy I decided to take this bootcamp! It was an intense 12 weeks and we learned so much. But I always felt supported by the TCs and fellow students. After graduation they held a virtual Job Fair with 20 different companies. I was offered a full time position within 3 weeks of graduation from one of the companies at the job fair! I honestly can't imagine a better bootcamp. I 100% recommend it to anyone looking to learn web development.

Modern tech stack, patient and skilled tech team, great career and tech support after graduation. There is a group project as well as a solo project so you will both learn to collaborate with others as well as be able to do a whole full stack project... Read More on your own. You will typically have 1 or 2 hours of lecture in the morning, then you will work on the workshop for the rest of the day so you will learn by doing which I think is the best way to learn and to learn fast. It is intensive and fast paced, so be prepared to work hard and put extra time and effort if you want to be successful. The teacher and tech coaches are always there to help if you're stuck and they were very kind, patient and helpful. After graduation you will be paired with a career coach for up to 6 months or until you find a job, whichever comes first. As I'm writing this, it's been only 5 months since graduation and most people in my group already found jobs. I got hired 4 months after graduation. For me, the job search part was the hardest but my career coach was always there to encourage me to hang in there and my time would come. You'll get tips on writing your resume, building your LinkedIn page and practice your interview skills. You'll also be paired with a tech coach for a couple of meetings, he/she will give you a roadmap, tips and resources to help and guide you to continue to learn. What you will learn at the bootcamp is just the beginning! You can also request help from a tech coach before a technical interview. There are also job fairs and speed interview events. If you don't get a job from these events (I didn't), at least you get to practice your interview skills. It was a very valuable experience from the classes to the career services. It was definitely worth it for me!

I enrolled to Journey's web dev bootcamp a little more than a year ago after deciding to make a career switch. What a ride, I hadn't been to school for a decade and I didn't know a iota about coding. I think the way the program is setup, from top top... Read More to bottom, makes it easier (relatively, this is hard and takes effort, it truly is a bootcamp) for total newbs. Whether it's your teacher or the technical coaches, the people managing this program made sure to hire the bomb. That's for the bootcamp part. When you're done, they made sure to not leave you on your own with your newly acquired knowledge. Which is awesome, because, well for my case anyways, I still lacked confidence. So for another 3 months ( I'm not sure about the span of time, all hell broke loose (covid) when we were at the bootcamp) I had access to a technical coach who would answer my questions as well as a career coach who I could speak about nothing and everything , both of them guiding me further up my journey. Landing a job is not guaranteed at the end of the bootcamp, and while they do organise job fairs (some of my colleagues find their first gig that way!), it's important to keep grinding. Coding every day, sending cvs, staying studious.

There were clearly other students who had a background in coding/relative experience in the domain. The TC's were fantastic in helping the student with the assignments. My only gripe was that I had to spend longer nights trying to figure out what I was learning at my own pace. The "Teaching" aspect of the course could've been a little better, I felt too alienated to ask a simple question when half my class was on to bigger things. After the bootcamp, the career support was great. I had weekly meetings with my coach and we practiced interviewing, had an improved version of my CV, and a technical coach was available if you needed help with an assignment a company was handing off.

Read More very knowledgeable and very dynamic, same for the TAs that were helping him and us. Even though it all happened remotely due to the pandemic, it was very smooth and interactive. When coding, the teacher and TAs will let you fail as long as it’s no longer productive for you to do so, which according to me, is the best way to learn. Once the course is over, you’re fully supported by their career services. They bring you in front of employers, they help with your CV, they coach you for you first, second, third interview and a technical coach is assigned to you to review and comment on technical tests some companies will make you do in order to move to the next step. Only 3 months after graduation, I’ve had one freelance contract as a full stack developer and I’m now a full time front end developer at one of the coolest dev shop in Montreal. Highly recommend it!

I am a full-time touring musician and decided to enrol in the bootcamp when I realized I would have a few months off from touring. I felt like I hadn't been challenged in a while, and this program was the perfect opportunity to learn some valuable new... Read More skills that I could use as a fallback in the case my music career dries up. (My prediction ended up being pretty accurate, as Covid 19 essentially flipped the live music industry on its back for the indeterminate future.) They don't call it a bootcamp for nothing; The course was pretty intense and fast paced, and I was probably putting in 50+ hours of coding per week, but it came with a great sense of accomplishment when I was able to reach each difficult benchmark. My instructor Scott was patient, kind, and an excellent information resource. The TA's were also extremely helpful and available pretty much anytime I needed their help. There were many moments of pure frustration, but I felt like I was surrounded by support, not only from the Instructor/TA's, but from my fellow classmates. I definitely made some lifelong friends from this program! Not only was the program great, but the career services that were available after completion were top notch. Career and technical coaches were assigned to meet with me once a week to work on my coding/job hunting skills. These services were offered far longer than I ever expected, and I still view both coaches as mentors that I could still message if I'm stuck on something or need to prepare for a job interview. The job hunt was at times demoralizing, but my technical coaches really helped stay me positive. The price tag was pretty heavy, but it is definitely paying itself off now. I recently negotiated my first big freelance contract with a fellow bootcamp classmate, which if all goes well, will end up being an excellent learning experience/resume asset when it is complete. If you enjoy being challenged and don't give up easily when faced with adversity, I would highly recommend enrolling in this full-stack bootcamp!

Read More career coach I was paired with was experienced and always prepared; I am deeply thankful for her support during the job-hunting period. Regarding the 4-month course itself, the instructor was a knowledgeable & professional developer and shared many valuable perspectives. The materials and assignments were prepared well and imo met my demand for "getting my hands dirty". The one thing I feel that can be improved is that the instructor could be more prepared to teach; I had previous knowledge but not everyone had, so when the basic concepts were not introduced well I can see it caused confusion for them (e.g. the difference between deep-copy and shallow-copy; the concept of functions, scope and data structure). Sometimes the instructor just read the slides of codes, which I believe can be more condensed.

Best school experience of my life. Each day you learn more and more that builds on what you learned previously. You learn from doing, building, and creating rather than through studying. There are always people you can turn to if you're struggling a bit, but honestly I didn't often find the pace too too hard to keep up with. Once graduated, there was quite a bit of help provided as well. We were taught all about what to do and not to do during our job search, and there were weekly meetings with a career coach to help you stay on track. There were also coaches available to guide you through any technical test/interview you might get while on the hunt. All in all, a great experience which opens so many doors for you and gets you started down an amazing path! I'd recommend it to anyone!

In 2019, I had decided that I wanted to do something better for myself and I had seen the Concordia Bootcamps show up in my feed a couple of times on Facebook until one day I checked out the website and found out the possibilities that could be waiting... Read More ahead for me. So at that moment I evaluated my budget and I was good to go. From the moment I started the bootcamp, I had access to a multitude of resources and the only thing that could set me back was actually just me. Being part of the part-time cohort, it allowed me to keep my full-time job as well as reserving some time in the evening and weekend to code away. It had been a while since I was challenged to this point in my professional life and that is what I was longing for. After graduating, I followed the advices from the career services and my career coach/ technical coach to improve my chances to secure a job. 2 months later, I was able to get my 1st developer job and I have never felt so accomplished since it took less than a year to achieve this goal that I had set up for myself which was to change careers! I definitely would recommend this bootcamp to anyone that is serious and committed to go through the multiple hurdles that comes in a career change and you won't regret it! The instructors and technical coaches are very accessible as well as the career services in case we have questions or need help. My career coach also was invaluable to me as I was able to be accountable for my actions and the support was priceless. The curriculum was well-organized and the logic to it made sense in how it develops you from the fundamentals in order to understand more complex ideas. In the end, everything becomes interconnected which helps to solidify your understanding and are able to work more independently.
