You can learn all of the stuff for free on Freecodecamp . They suck at finding you a job if you don't have a bachelor's degree already. You'll be stuck with 10 to 13.5k debt and no job by the end of it after months (if not a full year) of searching. You'll... Read More be better off finishing college instead of doing this program. They say you have 2 to 4 years of experience once you finish but the jobs aren't looking for that.

I think Devmoutain could be great for people who want to go into a programming-related field, but I want to go into Cybersecurity and their model does not fit that very well. Entry-level Cybersecurity jobs are looking for a lot of network/IT knowledge/experience.... Read More Foundations (the first 8-weeks) is focused on programming so it doesn't help much at all with entry-level jobs (Devmountain argues that knowledge will help with career advancement but I can't advance a career I don't have so I feel a bootcamp should be focused on helping get an entry-level job). Then when you get to specs (specializations) you're pretty much learning from online videos on Udemy. The video series I found most applicable to the knowledge needed for an entry-level job in my desired field is normally $300 which is far less than Devmountain fees. If you're wanting to go into Cybersecurity specifically, I don't think you should consider Devmountain.

I loved the learning style of this bootcamp and my instructors were very knowledgeable and super helpful throughout. I feel super confident about my coding abilities as a web developer and Devmountain has helped to increase my passion for learning and coding. I was so happy to come to class everyday to learn and code! If you're looking for a great bootcamp that will provide not only a great education but a great experience, then you can't go wrong with Devmountain!

I went into this program knowing nothing about coding, I know several people that went through the Legacy program, a former structure model Devmountain used. I enrolled in the in-person learning and it stretched me in ways of learning and pair programming... Read More that were so helpful. I loved the structure and lectures and set up of the first 8 weeks of the program. However the second half of the program was very different. If you are someone that likes the structure and planning of a curriculum the second half will be very difficult. It went from hands on with an instructor each day to just watching pluralsite videos that were 4+ hours long and sometimes didn't even apply to the labs that were given. They did offer designated "Subject Matter Experts (SME)", but I found that it was hard to actually get them to help you in a timely manner. I feel like the second half of this program fell short in so many ways, the cost seemed worth it with what you were getting in the first 8 weeks, but $4,000+ for watching outdated videos and not having support is frustrating.

Read More where all of Devmountain's glowing reviews are coming from, maybe corporate is holding someone's dog hostage. At best Devmountain is a diploma mill, at worst it's an $8,000 youtube course. For the record the first 8 weeks at Devmountain were awesome. We would meet everyday with the instructor for a group class, after lunch we would break into teams and code together with mentors always standing by ready to help. Curriculum The last 8 weeks "specialization" were a disaster. Devmountain decided to do away with the classroom setting and instead replace it with Pluralsight videos. It was painfully obvious that no one at Devmountain had reviewed these videos before putting them in the curriculum, their was a ridiculous amount of overlap and some of the videos were made for advanced programmers. Assistance They did have SME's (subject matter experts) who were available to help, but many of them were working multiple jobs and couldn't be counted on to offer any real assistance. I still remember the SME who said they had to leave in 5 minutes to get to their other job. Job Placement I can't really fault Devmountain for not offering 100% job placement, that is just too hard to do with the amount of developers these bootcamp's pump out. That being said the weekly "outcomes" meetings were disorganized, chaotic, and mostly focused on basic information that can be gleaned from a Business Insider article. I also received some terrible advice from a member of the outcomes team. He said I needed to pad my resume with more skills, when I asked what level of expertise I needed with a skill before I could list it he said "you need to just be generally familiar with it". I asked friends who are developers and they said that you will get burned in interviews if you do that. Also that's just plain dishonest, I've been in a plane before but feel uncomfortable putting "pilot" down on my resume. Summary From a business perspective what Devmountain is doing is genius. First offer the lowest price, second cut out teachers and hire an army of part time workers, step three pack the 'classes' with a plethora of students, fourth profit. If you're already a self taught programmer who just needs a piece of paper then this is the place for you. But people who actually want to learn are better off sticking to youtube.......it's $8,000 cheaper than Devmountain.

Read More add software development concepts like explaining what Agile software development is, the entire structure was redone. It is now 8-weeks of vanilla JS with PowerPoint presentations (and some rushed demos) followed by 8 weeks of learning the complex stuff on your own with 20+ hours of Pluralsight videos assigned per day. These videos are not even chronological or comprehensive. Right in the middle of React week you are required to watch a video on HTML basics after already covering it in week 3 and again in week 9. Who decided it made sense to first watch a video on React basics and then turn around and watch a video the following day on HTML basics? Someone who has never coded before. I searched for weeks for the right bootcamp. I already knew programming basics because I went to w3schools first to find out if it was even the right fit for me. I signed up because I didn't want to have to figure out React by myself, and here I am, 8 grand in the hole, learning React by myself. I feel duped. Consider yourself warned.

Taking this course was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The staff is incredible, the course is so packed with fun stuff to learn its nuts. The overall experience with Devmountain was so much better than even I expected and I was excited going... Read More into it. You learn so much everyday. I come from a blue collar background, never coded in my life and now I am starting a new career and totally new chapter in my life after just a few months! Can't express my gratitude enough! If you are even slightly interested DO IT!! Don't hesitate and change your life forever and surround yourself with these awesome folks!
