The best way a Business Major (or any student for that matter) can spend a summer. I learned more highly applicable skills in the 3 months than a year in school. Now, I'm using the skills I learned to build a startup.

Instructors & founders were great... Read More and ensured we truly understood the topics. The other students were highly motivated and a joy to work with. The speakers they brought in were world-class and helped us think about tech and investing at the highest levels. Overall, the environment made it enjoyable to work long hours and solve tough problems.

I highly recommend Horizons.

“Take tremendous risks in your 20s” is a phrase I live and die by. Many people balk at the idea of taking a few months off to rediscover themselves or learn something new because it will not puff up their resume. I, personally disagree with that and think... Read More that not taking the risk to join Horizons is a risk one cannot take.

Through Horizons, I was able to truly realize what I am passionate about and why I am passionate about them. Not only that, but I also got the chance to pick up many once-in-a-lifetime experience, invaluable skills and most importantly, everlasting relationships.

If you have a killer startup idea but lack the skills to build it, Horizons will be your answer. If you want a career in the tech industry but lack the knowledge or experience, Horizons will be your answer. If you are in any sense passionate about tech, Horizons will be your answer.

Pros:
- Being amongst other energetic, fun, and highly intelligent college students from a variety of majors (engineering, biology, psychology etc.) is so much better than being amongst people in their mid-20's looking for a career switch. I built amazing... Read More friendships at Horizons
- The speakers are incredible, I have no idea how they got such amazing people. My favorites included Mike Maples (founder of Floodgate), the founder of Digital Ocean, and the founder of Andela
- The teachers are incredibly knowledgeable- they've worked for companies like Dropbox, Google, etc. This is useful because they can best explain applications of tech and where you should focus
- Programming skills I learned at Horizons helped me get an internship

Cons:
- Very intense workload. Not a con if you're willing to grind. Keeping perspective and staying mentally strong is a must, but not something that's actively attended to.
- I gave Job Support 4 stars, because there hasn't been too much communication about job opportunities. They do a great job of helping with your resume and educating you how to look for jobs. Recruiting season for tech hasn't arrived yet, so we will see.

I went to Horizons with the sole purpose of getting a job. Within a month, I not only had a job, I had offers from a few companies.
