Read More whether i learned enough, it turns out they've been more than adequate for a moderately technical entry-level data science position. the most valuable thing was learning how statistical techniques are used in real-world applications.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Metis Data Science Bootcamp experience! I came away from the program with a more well-rounded skillset that gives me a starting point for solving data science problems and additional reach-back to a network of other data... I loved it.
The instructors were really really good, and I had a lot of fun learning all that material. The projects are well structured, and the syllabus is a very good overview of what happens in many (well, at least mine) data science companies. The... Read More coursework was a good mix of learning new topics, i.e. lectures, and hands-on work on programming challenges, projects, etc.

I had full career support throughout my job search, even after I graduated from the bootcamp, and I definitely couldn't have found my awesome job without taking this course.

I was part of the spring cohort at Metis Data Science Bootcamp and absolutely loved it. Everyday at Metis followed a similar schedule. We did pair programming in the mornings, followed by lectures, followed by coding. Over the 12 weeks we went through... Read More the basics of statistics, data science and data engineering, good programming practices, interview prep and much more. The instructors Bo Peng and Aaron Schumacher were both very experienced in the data science field and that wealth of knowledge definitely shown through in their lectures and their ability to field pretty much any question we could think of between the two of them. I also really appreciated all the assistance we got in the job hunt both in the application process. Lastly, I really loved my cohort. They came from such diverse backgrounds that everyone really added and brought value to the whole experience.

Thanks to the bootcamp, I was able to find work within 2 weeks and am now working as a Data Scientist making a 6-figure salary doing what I love!

I enjoyed the bootcamp immersively. The teachers were very helpful and classmates were extremely nice. It also had a great HR team which help students to find jobs and prepare for interviews etc. At the end of the bootcamp, it will also hosted a career... My experience at Metis was AWESOME. I started the program with no experience in ruby on rails, javascript and sinatra. The very talented Thoughtbot engineers who instructed us were amazing as well and they 'know their onions' when it comes to web development.... Read More You get what you put into the program. You will be coding simple programs with a partner few days into the program. You will jump in and work on projects. That’s how you learn in this program. If you’re willing to invest the time and energy while you’re doing other stuff (as well as study and review at home) you will be successful. Everything is very hands on and very fast paced. You learn a lot in a short period of time. Also, Metis' space is great, you get the opportunity to connect with professional coders and learn from them as well. THE METIS Ruby on Rails PROGRAM IS A VERY WORTHWHILE PROGRAM. It will be a faux pas not to mention the management, shout out to them... they are great!!! And they their very best to offer job support.

I took the Metis Bootcamp over the summer. The engineers who taught the course were at the absolute top of their game, with deep knowledge of the subject, great teaching skills, and a positive attitude that set a welcoming tone for everyone, no matter... Read More what level they were at when they arrived. This set the tone for the rest of the class, bringing the students together as a cohesive team, working together in support of one another all the way through. The "tag-team" approach (the two instructors alternated teaching) meant that every day you had a fresh teacher, plus a dedicated classroom aid. The aid role ensured that, as we installed new software, or configured our systems in new ways, there was always someone to help you get through those inevitable glitches quickly, so you wouldn't be slowed down and fall behind the class.

Most of us went in with no real programming knowledge, but we all left with the ability to build, from scratch, a fully functional site, running 3rd party APIs, jquery, coffeescript, popular css frameworks, and everything in between. My family uses the real-time messaging app I built in class as our own private twitter!

But the program doesn't just end when you walk out the door. The job placement coordinator and I are in touch almost daily, and she's *fantastic*, digging up opportunities and resources seemingly out of thin air. As an older student returning to tech from a long hiatus, I'm particularly hard to place, but she's been terrific in finding positions that are "just right" for me and my background. In addition, the events coordinator keeps us in the loop on events happening at which we can network with people in the industry. As a result, I've met some incredibly helpful people, and even got into a very cool crowd-sourced volunteer project that's furthering my skills. I'm having a blast with all I've learned and thoroughly enjoy getting back together with folks from the program on a regular basis, while I continue on this journey to a new career.

LOL! I sound like an ad, but it really is *that* good. It's been a life-changing experience for me, and I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to spend my summer with such great people.

My experience at Metis has been extraordinary. Metis is an intensive program, where you spend half of the day in lectures taught by Thoughtbot engineers and then the other half implementing and building great programs. Learning programming best practices by Thoughtbot engineers is definitely an advantage of the Metis program. They also help you connect with tons of tech companies, and how to be a part of the New York tech community. Now I find myself going to three to four meetups a week, and working on new projects every week. I highly recommend this program, specially because you get one-on-one support from the instructors, and they really care about seeing their students succeed. Their talent placement support is top-notch, and they will make sure you have all the resources to find an amazing entry level job. Joining Metis was one of the best decisions I've ever made.
