School of Code Bootcamp

I loved every second of my time with The School of Code, and I was very fortunate to have been chosen for a place on their 14th bootcamp. They provided such a fantastic opportunity for networking and upskilling; it's incredible to think that we pay nothing... Read More for it. I have gone from knowing basically nothing about coding to having a firm grasp of the entire software development lifecycle. It has ignited a new passion in me, and I am eager to continue my learning journey professionally and recreationally. Everyone I met was friendly and great to work with. The coaches were highly knowledgeable and explained things clearly whilst also working hard to provide us with a positive and enjoyable experience. I never felt alone with the amount of support I had, including that of my SoC-provided mentor who was a life-saver on many occasions. SoC places great emphasis on feedback, so anything that could be improved gets better fast. After completing their bootcamp, I feel much better equipped to secure a good job where I will not only feel safe but also excel, especially with the full and constant support of their employability team and the array of employer partners whose job roles we get exclusive access to for a month. I cannot thank SoC enough.

For anyone out there who is unsure whether to get themselves out of their comfort zone, learn new things, and work with a group of like-minded individuals – go for it. I am currently in the process of applying for roles and the post-bootcamp support has been really supportive so far. I am confident I will find a role for me to continue my learning journey in tech. The bootcamp itself is fast-paced and you cover a lot of topics, but the coaches are so supportive and do everything they can to make sure you are enjoying the process and are engaging with the range of content. This bootcamp is fabulously collaborative – you’re with a different group each week which really helps you stay engaged with the process. You get to meet a whole range of individuals from different walks of life, but you all share the same love for problem solving and creating things to solve real world problems. Chris and The School of Code team are brilliant at what they do, don’t hesitate, just apply.

The 16 weeks are super intensive so in the interview process they do actually warn you that it may be the "hardest thing you'll ever do", that being said they don't just teach you about coding, there's also mindset sessions which help your mental health... Read More and invaluable soft skills too. As weeks go by you'll learn to pair program with many people, learning to work with a diverse amount of people and also learn AGILE methodologies too. Stay resilient and you will achieve excellence! Good luck to whatever decision you make :D

School of Code offered the structure I needed in order to learn programming. We went from zero to having built a full-stack web application in just 16 weeks. The education is not just about code, however. We learned so much about working effectively in... Read More a software development team and there was a real emphasis on pair programming and Agile methodologies which has been hugely valuable. I can't recommend School of Code highly enough!

I honestly cannot understand how this course has so many if any good reviews. It was un-organised, unprofessional and ultimately a complete farce. The coaches were inexperienced, unknowledgeable and couldn't answer questions that veered off the script... Read More they had for that lesson. You were merely just a number to get them the funding and no help was given to get a job after. They're statistics on the percentage of people who get jobs after is completely made up. Save yourself the time, i wouldn't recommend this course to anyone.

The school of code is not for the weak minded. If you want an easy way into tech this is not the place for you. However, If you’re looking to push yourself and test your capabilities look no further. This is a challenge like no other. The days will be... Read More hard and will require sacrifice. But if you are lucky enough to be accept into the school of code, they will be your best days. You will learn to become comfortable being uncomfortable. You will be surrounded and learn amongst some of the hardest working individuals. You will become part of a community like no other. You will come out the other side a whole new skilled, confident and competent individual. Ready to take on any challenge the tech industry has to offer you.

Back when I was searching for a BootCamp to join, I had heard in many different places how hard a BootCamp is, but only after going through the experience myself, I was able to actually understand the dimension of it. After twelve weeks of active learning, I am able to work in an environment I've never experienced before, and I can bring value to any company I work in.

People say you can go down the self taught route, but you could easily end up overwhelmed and end up in a huge rabbit hole with the amount of information that is available online. School of Code were there to give me that push in the right direction with constant support from the coaches and fellow students.
