Every lesson are very good explained and every line put in the code is explained. What gave me the chance to not learn like an robot... Read More was that at everything new i learned were questions about it at every lesson. Then what's exciting is that at every lesson you have an exercise to do. This is great, because whenever i get to make that exercise alone, without help, it feels good and motivating to continue doing so. Beside exercises there are challenges too. At every challenge you get an objective and you need to make it work. When you finish the code and think that is good, you can send to one of their engineer team to evaluate it and give an review.

Cons on this program i don't have. It's a good place to enter in the Software Engineering world with a lot of people who are ready to help.

From the very beginning, Firehose has been extremely responsive in a timely manner allowing me to keep pace with my studies and build my confidence as I develop new skills.

However, the absolute best aspect of Firehose is the 1:1 experience with my mentor. Firehose has optimized the algorithm for pairing students with the perfect mentor. The individual attention and support of my mentor creates a curriculum that is perfectly tailored to my way of learning and gives me exactly the support I need when I need it. While I've never attended an onsite bootcamp, I can't imagine that the 1:1 attention of an onsite can equal that of what I receive from my mentor.

Plus, I'm a working adult. I need to be able to set a schedule that works in tandem with my day-to-day responsibilities. Some days coding needs to happen at 5am and other days at 11pm. Firehose gives me this flexibility while always providing timely feedback and support. If I do start to feel really overwhelmed, I also have options to roll back to a part-time program or pause my program for a week or two to give me time to breathe and catch up.

For newbies, the learning curve is going to be steep. If you're committed and willing to put in the work, Firehose won't disappoint.

I have completed seven weeks of the Accelerated Full Stack Web Development, and I believe joining the Firehose project was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have enjoyed learning Ruby on Rails since the language itself allows you to grasp more experience than any other language in a given period. The flexibility of Rails combined with the lessons allowed me to create web apps in the first week. The program also includes computer science fundamentals such as data structures. This truly separates the Firehose project from other boot camps and any other MOOC. I can't stress enough the importance of learning how to think like a software engineer. It is imperative to understand and implement the best practices available. This kind of guidance is provided by every weekly mentor session, and the unconditional support of Ken and the firehose community.

The boot camp will provide the guidance you need to build different web applications, test driven development, and agile development. You will be taught how to think and apply these lessons in real-world situations by completing a set of challenges and quizzes. I've had the opportunity to engage with the support team, and I've always received all the help I need to make my apps work. All in all, I have had a remarkable learning experience, and I regret delaying this experience for a few months. I don't have to chase the proverbial rabbit down every StackExchange hole; I learn what I can and leave the really obtuse stuff for my mentoring sessions.
(3) Tree-like Layout of Course Objectives: the course is not entirely linear, which I like. It allows me to pick and choose what to focus on at any given time. If I wish to continue building an app, sure. Rather spend the day watching instructional videos? Yup. Prefer to tackle coding challenges? Bring 'em on. Yes, the course is structured, but it's not stifling.

I started The Firehose Project in Feb. 2017 with the intention to change careers and develop my existing programming skills to a professional level. So after spending a good 2 weeks going through reviews, blog posts and even starting some of the free coding camps out there, I decided to go all in. I quite my job as an Engineer and started the Firehose Project.

It soon turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made in my professional career so far.

The reason for choosing the Firehose Project were mostly related to their preperation course and a personal interview before the actual course started. I could ask all the questions I had to a 'real person' (not only watching a recorded Youtube video as with some other boot camps out there) and got a good idea of what the real course would look like by going through the preparation. In addition to that, The Firehose Project's curriculum included not only lessons about Ruby, jQuery, CSS/HTML etc. but also hours and hours on algorithms andTest Driven Development (TDD).

I am now in the last 2 weeks of the course and currently involved in a remote agile team project. After endless hours of coding, mentorship and reminders from my wife to eat, shower and sleep, I can now say: Through The Firehose Project, my passion for coding transformed from an initial spark into a wild fire. Looking back, I never would have thought that I learn as much as I did within just a couple of month. Thanks to the two founders Ken and Marco who are constantly helping their students (via weekly office hours, slack chat as well as via email and as mentors), I am now confident not only to enter the real life coding world (and they even prepare you for that with a big job preperation at the end of the course) but have also already started to help out other coding students.

This was an excellent course. The content of the course was made easy to understand but it covered a lot of ground. The curriculum was focused on practicality -- getting projects up and running so you could see your results how well you actually learned... Read More things. Plus, the content was very up-to-date. I received a job offer mid-course and the course subject matter was as current, if not more so, than where I started working. In addition, the mentors were great and very responsive to any questions no matter how seemingly simple. Can't recommend it enough.
