○ The Cybersecurity Bootcamp curriculum covers threat actor types and attributes, malware, three-legged stool (CIA), authentication models, access control modes, risk assessments, control audits, and vulnerability assessments & remediation. Bootcamp students will complete a guided capstone project during which they will be required to work on a hypothetical pen test and develop a corrective action plan. Bootcamp students will be prepared for the CompTIA Security+ exam and will receive a free exam voucher.
○ The Data Analytics Bootcamp curriculum is created in partnership with Microsoft. Bootcamp students will learn how to use data to present actionable insights, framed structure thinking, analyzing business problems, connecting data using SQL, how to communicate data analysis, and visualizing data with Python.
○ The Software Engineering Bootcamp curriculum covers the core principles of development, the most in-demand tools and technologies, and will teach you the best practices you’ll need to land a job in the tech industry. You’ll learn software development from Colt Steele, named Udemy’s best new instructor in 2016. Colt will teach JavaScript, Python, React, Node, and much more - and you’ll apply each and every concept through hands-on exercises and projects. You’ll graduate the course with a custom capstone project, created with the tech stack of your choice, which will be the centerpiece of your portfolio.
○ Applicants from diverse backgrounds are welcome to apply for UMGC Bootcamps. Cybersecurity bootcamp applicants are required to demonstrate strong analytical skills and determination and must pass an evaluation of baseline soft skills centered around communication, motivation, professionalism, a commitment to learning, and an analytical mindset. Data Analytics Bootcamp applicants are required to have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, at least two years of professional work experience working regularly with Microsoft Office, design or programming tools, and fluency in English (written and spoken). Software Engineering bootcamp applicants do not need to have programming experience. If you already have basic skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript you can test into an accelerated Core version of the curriculum. If you don’t know how to code, you’ll learn everything you need to succeed in the Foundations+Core version of the program.
○ Bootcamp students will receive support from their student advisor, personal expert mentor (regular 1:1 video calls), and career coach, who assist bootcamp students with personalizing their pitch and job search strategy and crafting a resume. Bootcamp students will receive access to an online community where they can network with mentors and other UMGC bootcamp students and unlimited 1:1 calls with other community mentors.
