While all the topics covered are available online, taking the leap to learn from Boise CodeWorks allowed me to have real world experience creating applications from start to finish. They brought in industry experts to give talks about topics I didn't even knew existed which helped to broaden my scope about what is available in the tech industry. The instructors are great teachers, mentors and friends and they are passionate about what they are teaching which makes it very easy to learn from them.

After I graduated from College with my B.S. in Computer Science I didn’t know what I wanted to do or what to do next. Read More much and are building projects throughout the program. All the Teachers and staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful they really make the program something special. You really get to learn how an idea goes from paper to screen and your not just watching you are going through the process and really learning what it takes. I cant really express how much CodeWorks helped me find my professional direction and how happy I am to be CodeWorks Alumni I really learned a lot and I’m proud of it.

My course was a full stack program, 13 weeks long, 9-5 every day. I entered the program with some basic html knowlege learned online in the few weeks before starting. I ended the course with a clear understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, experience with... Read More the Vue framework, C#, and much more. The class was intense. I got frustrated and had my low moments, but I never went home early or passed up an opportunity to get assistance from an instructor or TA. They were always amazing about helping students who wanted to learn, but at times there was a line of students also needing help.

Jake puts an emphasis on staying relevant for the Boise market and skills learned can be useful in other areas as well.

The cost was low compared to other similar programs and I feel I got my worth for my debt.

It took me awhile to find a job. I feel this is largely related to the growing tech market in Boise and not the skills taught. But, the majority of the cost of the class is still on my credit card due to the delay in snagging a position.

Overall it was a good course that I am glad I completed.

You can expect plenty of hands on work to help you shake out where you are weak, but you can count plenty of support!
In addition to how you are doing with your coursework, Boise Codeworks regularly checks in with the class to see how
everyone feels they are progressing to they can adjust the coursework as needed.

They work very hard to keep the mood up beat and fun and the hackathons are a blast!
It is hard work, and will require working after class, but if you work hard you will come out the
other end of this course with all the skills you need to start work as a developer!

My experience was unique in that there were 3 students attending this course. This made for some excellent one-on-one time with the instructor. The nightly class generally has an hour of fast paced instruction with 2 hours for questions and assistance... Read More with the assignments. The projects were challenging and the instructor was always there to help if/when needed.

I didn't have a great deal of programming experience rolling into this class. The prerequisite subject material was a big help and I'd recommend understanding the basics of HTML, CSS, and JS before hopping into this.

I was able to improve my troubleshooting skills and greatly value the tools and exposure I had. I also greatly value the social networking that was made available via fellow students and instructor.

I attended the Immersive Full Stack course at Boise Code Works and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Read More challenging but it is taught in a way that even absolute beginners can understand, if you put in the effort to learn it. It isn't an easy class but the teachers will go above and beyond to make sure you are understanding concepts. Its very obvious the teachers actually care that students are successful and they will often work with students one-on-one to help them understand concepts. The class isn't easy and it does require work outside of class so you are successful but the most important thing is that they teach you how to learn new languages and think like a developer in a short amount of time. Obviously you can't learn everything about being a developer in just 9 weeks but Boise Code Works teaches you the skills you need to know to continue learning after the course is over. I got excellent job support after I finished the class. They have a lot of connections within the community and helped work with me to find out the kind of job I wanted and introduced me to several potential employers.

The quality of the education I got from BoiseCodeWorks was great. The course is fast paced and definitely requires dedication, but the teachers are very knowledgeable and have a teaching style that makes it fun. Management gives you a voice and listens... They also provide plenty of after-hours tutoring at no additional cost if you need help and can adjust or give additional projects to make sure you’re challenged even if you’re more advanced than the rest of the class. The course provides lots of hands-on training to solidify the new material. The resulting projects give you lots to talk about in interviews afterward.

The bootcamp doesn't advertise to provide job placement. It does, however, provide training on how to optimize your resume, interviewing tips, and it provides two days of mock interviews where actual companies come in and students have an opportunity to experience a handful of real interviews. Some students (1 or 2 from a typical class) end up getting hired from these interviews and the others have a chance to get the first time jitters out of the way. They also get you set up with a staffing company to help you look for a job afterwards. Overall they do quite a bit to help you get employed after the course.

Lastly, they do fun activities to help you have a good time and make some lasting friends and connections. If you’re looking to get into software development, especially in the Boise area, BoiseCodeWorks is the way to do it.
