"Excellent experience in the Full Stack immersive Boise CodeWorks course"
I did a lot of research when looking into changing careers from remote bootcamps to attending a local community college part time in their 2 year software developer program. Neither of those options were very good for me both in their learning styles... Read More
The course had a very logical flow starting with the basics (HTML/CSS) then progressing into JavaScript front-end, linking to a NoSQL back-end, then onto C# and SQL backends. The foundations of each language were taught as well as how to write them without a framework, then frameworks and libraries were introduced. This allowed for a deeper appreciation and understanding of how the languages work and what the frameworks are doing for the developer. The last week of the course was dedicated to career prep, both interviewing strategies and how to job hunt for a software developer position. This week included guest speakers from local companies and mock interviews that had the potential to turn into jobs if the company was hiring at the time.
Pros:
In-depth teaching and experience with the presented languages.
Challenging projects that built upon what was taught and learned in the previous days/weeks
Very supportive teachers and staff. You cannot fail this program unless you try. They will do everything that can to make sure you learn the material
Up to date with the most commonly used languages and practices.
Fun and engaging, every day wasn't just lecture and presentation, it was filled with challenges, class-lead project building and individual work
Very affordable. Pricing compared to other similar courses was incredibly affordable
Cons:
It's a breakneck speed and focused on learning the skills to program at a proficient level, this didn't leave much room for theory (such as a CS degree would)

"Experience was much better than expectations"
Teaching myself to code part time for a year on weekends and evenings was slow. I took my chances with Boise CodeWorks and learned more in 12 weeks than in my 4 years of college combined. By the end of the program I felt confident that I would be able... Read More

In my time at BoiseCodeWorks I was able to go from a very basic understanding of HTML and CSS, and build up to a full understanding of multiple languages (JavaScript, C#...) and frameworks. It was amazing to see how I could create a full application that... Read More
