My experience with devCodeCamp is overall very positive. I took the Full Stack Software Development course remotely from home, coming from no computer background, a very stagnant 2020 almost year-long quarantine after being a shift supervisor with Starbucks... Read More in 2019, and an US Army grunt before that. The material was challenging but paced in a way where I always felt like I knew just enough to complete the assignments. Moments where I didn't feel like I knew enough weren't difficult because the instructor staff were always available to answer questions one-on-one. By the end of the course I was capable of creating my own point-of-sale system that I developed all the way from concept, to planning, to implementation, all completely on my own. Currently working with their career services to find myself work. I am very proud of my accomplishments from the coursework and would recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Great all around instruction for beginners, variety of languages and tools to learn, hands on instructors, excellent remote program Cons: The cost could be greater than some can afford but worth it, very challenging at times

While you do learn the fundamental you have to be prepare for the pace of the program. I recommend to research ahead before committing or educate yourself with the fundamentals, so that when you come into the program you can piece everything together.... Read More A major pro to this bootcamp is that instructors really care about your success as a student. They were all more than willing to always help and guide you to problem solve for each project. They were once in your shoe, so you can really feel the connection with your instructor when you yourself succeed at a problem. I attended during the COVID-19 pandemic and it was through online. I wish I could had experienced it in person, but my point is doing it online felt difficult. I am a person who needs the immediate help and interaction because I learn faster that way, but I have spent a lot of my time researching. A better approach would be to think the problem in simple english and try to code it out, but at times you don't know how to start so you research and then it goes down a rabbit hole of researching. Once you feel like you are, stop and lay your questions to your instructor and see if there is a better way of solving your problem. Do this earlier rather than late in the program. Though, I have succeeded the course, it has always been very tight with the deadline. What you code does not have to be perfect, but being able to do it right and understand it matters as everything leads into the next project. There was a lot of pressure because it takes time to piece things together when you cannot immediately get feedback on a current problem you are trying to solve, which is also the downside of it being online. Overall, be patient with yourself. You will definitely get out of this more than you really think. Looking back on previous projects, I understand it more than I did when I typed my first line of code. Persevere and motivate yourself because even if it is hard at first, you will get there.

But I did my research ahead of time and asked around, then took the plunge based on these aspects. devCodeCamp (dCC) has a great track record of graduate success and a post-grad career... If you're serious, work-hard, and put in the extra effort; you will see immediate results. dCC has plenty of support and structure to keep you focused on the projects and to help you when you're stuck. But as I said, it comes down to the effort that you put into it. I HIGHLY recommend before coming to dCC to study and practice coding and development to get ahead start on the program, the best developers are self-taught, and it will give you a better sense of whether or not software development is for you. The curriculum serves as introduction and exposure to the concepts of software development. The course teaches concepts with C# / ASP .NET but I was able to transfer those skills and concepts to Javascript technologies with MERN Stack in my final project.

This camp does not waste time, so expect to learn non-stop from your first day until your very last.... Read More way. The lectures are interesting and teach a lot, but the program being project based is what really solidifies everything in your head. After you are introduced to a concept you are given a project so you can put your new knowledge to work right away. This process really helps you to learn the concepts taught and build your confidence as an aspiring developer. I highly recommend devCodeCamp!!

Read More devCodeCamp on the recommendation of a friend and decided to take a risk on it and dive into the world of coding. They really hit the ground running with the course work, and give you plenty of hands-on time to practice coding through projects and assignments from day 1! Even with the class being entirely remote, they paired each of us with a senior developer we could meet with daily for feedback and support, and the whole team of instructors was on call to assist if we ran into any issues. I will say that the course is fast paced, and it's up to you as a student to put in the extra time when you struggle with a concept. That being said, it is 100% worth it in my book! Even as a recent graduate of the course, I've already found a position in the field of Software Engineering, and am beyond thrilled to put my experience and new skills to good work! If you're in the same position I was and looking for a fresh start to the world of coding, I cannot recommend devCodeCamp enough. It's an investment in your future that is 100% worth it!
