About devCodeCamp
Location:
The devCodeCamp philosophy is to learn through doing. Students can expect lectures that range from the fundamentals of development to advanced, industry-driven concepts. We start out highly structured, with frequent lectures. The first weeks increase... Read More
Today Web Development is software engineering. With our program you will have the skills of a Front-end developer, building the code that runs in a web browser. Starting with HTML markup, adding CSS to make the page look the way it’s supposed to, and JavaScript code to help the user experience on the page be as easy and intuitive as possible. You will also add to those skills back-end development knowledge, all while using Lean/Agile best practices.
If you’re ready to add an in-demand skill to your creative side and up the trajectory of your career then it’s time to start thinking about Web Development. Our part-time evening bootcamp will allow you to go well beyond your ideas and enter the realm of implementation as a professional web developer.
You don’t just write code, you make the digital magic happen.

"A powerful tool for those motivated for a life change"
I loved my experience at dev code camp. I came in from the nursing field with 0 technical computer experience, yet I was willing to work hard and learn. At dev code camp these are the ONLY requirements to succeed! The instructors are friendly and approachable,... Read More

"Best investment I’ve made"
Prior to coming into devCodeCamp, I was a server at P.F. Chang’s. I made the jump into enrolling here with absolutely zero coding knowledge. It was a challenging 12 weeks but extremely rewarding. I can guarantee that there are no schooling like this.... Read More

"Both the environment and my experience at devCode camp was welcoming, challenging, and exhilarating."
The best advice I received before my course began was to fully immerse myself into the program because the time flies when you're at devCodeCamp. By choosing to immerse myself and soak up as much information as possible, I know my time spent here was... Read More

"They are invested in your learning and job hunt!"
I was reluctant to attend a coding bootcamp because I thought "why go to a bootcamp when you can learn for free online?" I'll answer that question for you- because at devCodecamp, the culture is incredibly encouraging and the instructors care. The internet... Read More

"Give it everything you can"
I came into to devCode with virtually no coding experience, had a great time, did better than I thought I could in the class, and got a job within a month of graduating. It may turn out to be the best investment I have made in my life.
In short …and I... Read More
The claims of devCodeCamp really seem too good to be true. It’s hard not to be skeptical of something that promises so much reward from just 12 weeks. With the negative reviews floating around from the past, I remember being very cautious when I signed up and wrote that check and thinking how big of a mistake it would be to hand over that much money and come out with no return on investment… but I took a huge leap of faith and made an investment in myself.
My advice to anyone signing up is not to wait to start coding until the class starts, devCode has some online pre-class resources and there are loads of other free tutorials and whatnot to start with. ANYTHING you can do NOW will make the class more helpful for you, yes you can come in with little to no experience, but even the 2-3 weeks I spent messing around helped me massively in regards to retaining information and keeping up with the classes.
If you want to do well and you are not the most confident person, don’t make failure an option. Stay late, ask questions, show up early, make success your number one priority for the 3 months and don’t let yourself down. None of the traditional education additude really has a place here, everyone is at devCode because they WANT to be there and they WANT to learn.
You might not graduate as a genius, (there is an infinite amount more to know and only 12 weeks to prepare!) but you will have the skills to get a job in a new career in just 3 months.

"Great instructors, great post-program support, great experience"
Pros:
* Great instructors | Most (I believe all) of the instructors for the program had graduated from the course themselves. They had graduated, entered the workforce for some time and returned to it to teach. This was a great benefit because the instructors... Read More
* Great financing options | I had considered attending devCodeCamp a year prior to my actual attendance but couldn't make the financing work. Since then, they added an ISA option (income share agreement) to fund it. They are investing in my success. If I didn't get a job making more than a certain threshold, they wouldn't get paid. It made their financial success dependent on my own financial success.
* Support after graduation was great | It took me about a full month after graduating to accept an offer. Throughout that time, I was in constant contact with instructors and advisors who gave me leads for positions. There were also some opportunities to present our final projects directly to employers.
* Previous graduates | The previous graduates of the program have been in the workforce crushing it. There were multiple times that I'd be in an interview and they'd say "we hired some previous graduates and want to hire more"
Cons:
* Very challenging | Every 3 to 4 new days (sometimes more, sometimes less) you start a new project and have to meet a new challenge. This isn't really a con for many people, but if someone is looking for an easy "check the box" type of education, this program isn't for them.
* Traffic | depending on where you are commuting from, the traffic can be a pain as it is located in downtown Milwaukee. For people who already work first shift with a commute, this won't be an issue. As someone who was working third shift, it took a little getting used to.
Summary:
I quit my job in healthcare industry to attend this program. It was horrifying to do that as someone who hasn't been unemployed since I turned 16. But 16 weeks later (12 weeks of the program and 4 weeks interviewing/applying), I accepted an offer with a Fortune 500 company at their corporate HQ, have transitioned from janitorial services into engineering, and almost doubled my yearly salary.

"A great opportunity, but be prepared to focus only on this for three months"
The pros are simple, it's an incredible opportunity to turn your life around, run by cool people who really want you to succeed both during and after the course. If you give it everything you got, you wont regret it.
The cons, and this is a relatively... Read More

"Excellent program with a focus on hands on learning"
My only exposure to coding prior to attending devCodeCamp was some college classes a decade prior (which did help, but I hadn't touched Visual Studio since then).
The course itself is project based, and a big part of it is learning how to learn to code.... Read More
In addition to coding, you'll learn and practice Agile development. I struggled with this at the beginning, but became comfortable in the stand up meetings before the end of the course. There are also two capstone projects (group and individual), which will add to your resume and brings us to the last part of this review: career services.
One you complete the course, you will have a decent idea of what you want to be doing (probably some form of software development). You will receive guidance on setting up your resume to get companies to notice you. In addition, there are many local connections which can land you a position with a great company.
All in all, devCodeCamp is a worthy investment, and an all in one solution for someone interested in software development.
