"No guaranteed interview"
I found out about the School of Code via the Government Digital Skills website where it states "You’ll also get a guaranteed job interview at the end of the course". It's been over 3 months now, and I've not had a single interview via the School of Code,... Read More
Although it's a free course, it is full-time and not advisable for anyone who cannot claim benefits, because it's very difficult working part-time alongside it, because unless you already know programming languages, you'll be working til 10pm straight getting through tasks and trying to learn everything that is thrown at you, and there's absolutely no guarantee of even getting an interview.
I recommend that you find an online course and materials that work for you so that you can work as normal and learn around that.

One of the highlights was the opportunity to work on real-life projects with actual stakeholders, which provided invaluable practical experience. The program culminated in a demo day, where we showcased our projects to leading tech companies, giving us fantastic exposure and networking opportunities.
While the bootcamp is very challenging and requires a lot of hard work, perseverance truly pays off. The skills and knowledge I gained have been transformative, and I feel well-prepared to take on a tech career.
Highly recommend to anyone looking to break into the tech industry!

"A Transformational Experience"
The transformation that has taken place over the last 16 weeks goes far beyond learning new skills. My entire mindset has shifted from the old me to something new. I feel ready to enter the workforce, and I could not have done that without the awesome... Read More
The best part of the course was working in our teams to learn new skills and build stuff. Each week felt like a movie. It starts off all nice and easygoing; you meet your new teammates and get given a few tasks and problems to solve. Tuesday, things start to get harder, but you are just about hanging on. By the end of Wednesday afternoon, you are in the pit of despair. You feel like you've been fighting bears in the octagon and begin to wonder if you are even cut out to be a software developer. But somehow, at some point during Thursday, it starts to make sense, and you take this shiny sword of knowledge on your journey home to fight the final boss challenge... The Friday hackathon. Then you and your team battle it out to build some amazing thing that you never thought you could ever do. Then, you just repeat that pattern for 16 weeks. It's quite amazing, really.
What I've come to realise is how software development works. You take on some problem that you have no idea how to solve; you struggle, there is a bit of pain. Then you figure it out, you feel amazing, you grow as a developer, and you move on to the next problem.
I wouldn't change anything about SoC I feel very lucky to have been in cohort 16 - 2024

Learning alongside such an inspiring group of individuals, each with their own dreams and sacrifices, made the journey even more meaningful. The shared ambition created a supportive atmosphere where we pushed each other to grow.
The School of Code staff genuinely cared about our success, going above and beyond to set us up with mentors and guide us towards a brighter future in tech. My mentor's unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental in building my confidence and skillset.
The curriculum itself was a perfect blend of technical knowledge, mindset skills, and collaborative projects. We weren't just learning to code; we were learning to think critically, communicate effectively, and solve real-world problems as a team. This emphasis on teamwork and problem-solving gave us invaluable experience that will undoubtedly serve us well in our future careers.
The School of Code's commitment to our success didn't end in the classroom. They're equipping us with the tools and opportunities needed to thrive in the tech industry, from CV workshops to networking events to showcasing our final projects to potential employers.
