Before taking Skillcrush's Break into Tech program I didn't know how to code anything. I also didn't understand the different roles that exist in the tech industry. I love the teaching method, you have teachings in video and written format but most importantly there are portfolio projects that you can build, to me that's where I really learned the most and what helps me get clients/job. The program offers you the possibility to reach out to teachers who kindly and promptly help you solve all your questions. It's a safe space to learn and grow. Another important reason why I chose Skillcrush is because of the guidance and help around finding a job or clients. I've learned so much and currently hunting for a new job and feel very confident that I have the right skillset to find one! This course is perfect (and I highly recommend it) if you want to make a career change and you have no clue where to start or know very little. For someone who is already working as a developer, I would more likely check the add-on courses as you might already know a lot of the stuff in the core of the course. You really get what you paid for and more! You not only get the technical skillset but a lot of different valuable pieces of knowledge to become a well-rounded successful developer.

I searched for a good program for somebody who is completely new to tech and is interested in transitioning into UX design. I end up signing up for the Break into Tech program and add the UX courses on top of that. AND I LOVE IT!
My favorite things about skill crush is how clear and easy to digest the classes are and how much practice and feedback opportunities are available to you. All the information is very clear and instructors are super responsive. Overall, it feels like the team at skillcrush truly cares about your success and it really shows through the classes, the added materials and the conversations with instructors. Highly recommend. It is also quite affordable compared to other programs!

My Front End Developer Fast Track course at Skillcrush is almost over, and by now I can say that its biggest flaw is that it's almost over! I will miss the classes and the fantastic people at Skillcrush. You get to learn a lot, and in such a funny way.... Read More All Skillcrush instructors are amazing: they will not just teach you a class and help you when you're stuck, they're there for you to support you and motivate you, and God only knows if not-so-young people like me, who is trying to change her career, need motivation and confidence. I can't recommend more Skillcrush courses, to the point that I'm seriously pondering to take the Advanced CSS class. Invest in themselves is always a good thing in my opinion, and with Skillcrush you won't even regret it.

It was the perfect course for someone who has zero tech experience. The curriculum was easy to follow and I could get several lessons done each day. I could work as fast or as slow as I wanted. Plus, I had access to lots of support, whether it was asking fellow students through Slack or emailing instructors with questions/feedback. One of the other reasons Skillcrush stood out to me was the job support. I'm able to schedule counseling sessions to talk about what I should be working on and advice for job hunting. If you are looking to start coding with no background experience, Skillcrush is the perfect place to begin your training.

I am celebrating my completion of the Break Into Tech - Designer Track through Skillcrush! I had been laid off by the company I served for 18 years due to the pandemic. I had just spent four years as a Product Owner designing, managing and expanding proprietary... Read More software that literally ran the operation and drove the recruiting pipeline. It was tremendous experience, and I loved designing software... but this one job in tech wasn't enough to get me to the next one. I had earned this one through 14 years of operational leadership excellence and being a thought leader. I needed hard skills and the background to help me get a job that I wanted. Enter Skillcrush!

Once I got my bearings after the covid layoff I started doing research to try and figure out what training I needed to get me a job working in IT as a product designer. I came across Skillcrush and Adda Birnir's story which I found to be similar to mine... only Adda's struggles were during the 2008 economic crisis... and she created Skillcrush because she saw the need to help people gain hard technical skills that would keep them employed in high paying jobs. I really loved that it was founded by a woman in response to her own job loss and that it appeared to be run by mostly women! I will also tell you their marketing campaign is terrific... I would get emails from Adda every few days sharing stories of her personal journey and how she became successful again after losing her job. It was a story I needed to hear and she kept telling it until I was ready to jump in with both feet.

I started the classes in June of 2020 and its October 5th and I have completed the BIT-Fast Track for Designers! I am applying for jobs and know I will find the right one soon... and I enjoyed the classes so much that I will continue taking other classes through Skillcrush until working takes over all of my time. I am grateful to Adda and the Skillcrush team for their support and constant encouragement. I will continue using and referring to the classes I took to support me in new roles as things change or I need to review skills or processes. They also have some terrific masterclasses and career training and counseling!

This is a review of the FRONT END DEVELOPMENT + REACT JAVASCRIPT course. Overall this course was alright for me. Prior to enrolling to the course, I was looking for a curriculum that would help me get into front-end development jobs. That was my end goal.... Read More Skillcrush popped up in my search so I quickly hopped on and enrolled. But while I was taking the course, I started to do more research and found that my interests were more inclined to software engineering/full stack development. As you can see, this course does not really help with that goal. But I had already paid for it and decided I might as well go through with it. From the lengthy research I've done on other programs (ie looking into their syllabus/curriculum/emailing them to ask more questions, I realized that the concepts I learned in this course felt very introductory/beginner level. So that's something to think about if you're interested in gaining a very advanced level concept of front-end. Regardless, I still took the course and finished. The staff members were definitely kind and helpful! They helped with any confusion I had. The slack community was pretty good. The layout of the course was nice - there's a built-in text editor so you can code along. There are exercises after each section so you can apply what you've learned. I know a lot of students who found these skillcrush courses to be helpful for them and enjoyed it. I just think this wasn't for me, personally, and I would have benefitted from taking other programs. (I ended up enrolling in a longer, more intensive and in-depth program, which suits my end goals and mentorship needs.) But overall, I'd say it's a decent introductory course. Make sure to do your research and understand your end goals prior to enrolling. I was at fault for enrolling in haste and not researching other options with similar price points. My reviews and star ratings are based on the sole fact that this program just wasn't for me, personally. So please don't take it as a one-size fits all review. There are many students who have enjoyed this course and that's good! I just didn't find this course to suit me and my end goals. So for that I'd have to give lower ratings based on what I was hoping to learn from front-end development. However, the staff members and the slack community definitely deserve 5 stars. I'm proud to call myself a Skillcrusher! I enrolled in the Break Into Tech blueprint years after being told about Skillcrush by an old acquaintance from high school. I shouldn't have waited 6 years to make the leap to learn again! It just took a furlough... Read More during a pandemic to urge me to take the steps to get out of the field of real estate and into something that would give me the freedom I want and the opportunity to earn more money. I'm happy to report that I just completed coding my very first website and today, I launched that baby live!
I cannot say enough good things about Skillcrush. The lessons are explained in such a manner that things just click for me -- and I never thought I was smart enough to learn coding. When you get stuck and feel like you need a little help, the Slack community is there for you and the instructors are awesome at reaching out to lend a hand to explain any concepts that you might be having trouble with.
If you're on the fence about Skillcrush, don't wait any longer. Hop down off that fence and get started on a blueprint that you're interested in. You won't regret it.

Skillcrush is awesome! I am making a career change after having avoided the tech scene for decades. This program is well-designed to make learning straight-forward , while avoiding unnecessary jargon. Absolutely the clearest and most anxiety-reducing... Read More way to enter the tech fields. The feedback from teachers was nearly immediate and very helpful, the student community is supportive, and I was able to go from zero to coding a website in three weeks. I haven't finished the program yet, but fully expect to be employable soon. Highly recommended.

PSA (before I get into how much I love the skillcrush course): If you are thinking of or already doing the break into tech course do NOT get the UX add on. Most of the information is already in the course and, truthfully, it's just not worth the money... Read More at all. It felt like going from college to kindergarten with how brainless the material felt. Frustratingly, it felt like the entire course section could have been summed up in a few pages inside the main course. It was a waste of time and money.

That being said I would still give this entire course a 5 star review overall. It guides you through the information at a perfect pace and presents it all in a logical and fluid way. They offer many resources to pick through at your own pace as well. Skillcrush's team is hyper responsive and good at teaching rather than just answering questions. You could easily teach all of this to yourself through free resources and experimentation, but I'd also guarantee you it would take three times as long and you wouldn't get the best practices drilled into you like this course does. If you're taking the idea of moving into the tech world seriously this is the right move.
