Read More found the course to be well-paced and easy to follow, and perhaps more importantly, the passion and sense of humor Larry imbues into the course delivery makes it enjoyable. I feel much more confident in my knowledge of Agile/Scrum and found the real world examples to be relatable, even as someone without a heavy technical background. What I value and appreciate the most is how much this course opened my eyes and mind to different approaches, ways of thinking, and a humbling acknowledgment of how I can play a more active role in grasping objective reality. To say this course was life changing is an understatement. (I even drew on concepts from the course in job interviews and ended up landing two offers in the span of two weeks.) Thank you, Larry and team, for the time, talent, and dedication you put into Job Hackers and positively influencing the world.

It even touched on systems thinking, which for me was the most interesting part of the course. Definitely highly recommended!

First, the breadth of the content provides a firm baseline of Agile mechanics and its application in the real project management world. I found that it... Read More effectively "rounded out" my formal Agile training. Secondly, the emphasis on the "human dimension" was especially useful especially from a holistic business systems perspective. Third, the very inclusive and positive leadership style that Larry used helped make the discussions very personal and engaging where participants clearly felt safe to actively participate. And of course, Larry's deft sense of humor demonstrated how confidence and passion for a subject can be quite infectious.

At first I thought the series of classes solely focused on becoming a Scrum Master. While Larry does set you up for success in learning about and understanding the official scrum guide to prepare you to take that test, his class goes well beyond that... Read More small task. If you are prepared to read 50 pages per day, I guarantee you will get much more out of his class and have a better understanding as he reiterates materials with added introspection. The book recommendations, although dated, actually give a very clear vision to the lack of changes that have occurred in business within the last 40 years. Larry and the books he references do a great job of aligning you on how to understand and work with legacy systems, seasoned leaders, and those who are trying to use Agile in today's businesses. The optional Friday breakout sessions were a great way to hear people's real-life experiences as well take a deeper dive with class discussions. I know I still have a lot to learn but I was floored by the amount of pure valuable information that was disseminated within a six-week timeframe by also being an active participant in these sessions. There is even an active slack channel to keep discussion open outside of class. The class helped me gain a deep understanding to how others work. It went beyond business practices and Agile frameworks to include cognitive bias, behaviors, leadership, systems thinking and the importance and success of productive office environments. We even had resume review sessions to hone in on our newly acquired skillsets and happy hours for those who just needed a breather.

The slides, graphics, TEDTalks, YouTube videos, and books kept me committed and riveted. Don't worry if you're not in software development, I am in biotech and the content is transferable, relatable. The group was very engaged in the Chat exchanging ideas, suggesting additional resources, ideas, opinions, and the wonderful moderators, Ed and Jim, were funny and attentive monitoring/answering Q&A real time. I also signed up for the additional, helpful, Friday work group for small group discussion, networking, and test questions practice. Larry generously shares all of this for free as a non-profit. He's created not only a curriculum but also a Community. The Job Hackers Slack group includes advice on test prep, resume review, job leads, opportunities to pay-it-forward, reading list suggestions and so much more. Highly recommended!
