What was Mario Bajric's experience at Studytheblockchain?

Mario is a graduate of the cryptocurrency and blockchain bootcamp, Study The Blockchain. After attending a full-stack web development bootcamp at Northwestern University, Mario decided he wanted to gain experience in blockchain development.

As a current third-year student at DePaul University, Mario was able to supplement his computer science and mathematics classes with an in-depth blockchain bootcamp, preparing him for a career in blockchain development.

Using his skills from Study The Blockchain, Mario already landed a position at the Chicago Crypto Capital as a contracting blockchain developer.

As he explained, "While finishing college, I am able to gain valuable experience developing apps for companies that would like to implement blockchain internally."

We sat down with Mario to learn more about his experience with Study The Blockchain, his interest in blockchain development, and his current role.

Tell me about your background. What was your educational experience before joining Study The Blockchain?

I am currently in my third year at DePaul University, majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. On top of my classes at DePaul, I attended a full-stack web development bootcamp at Northwestern University. As the Northwestern bootcamp came to a conclusion, my instructor advised me to sign up for another bootcamp he was teaching, Study The Blockchain.

Given your experience in software development and computer science, why did you decide to attend Study The Blockchain? What were your goals for the program?

I decided to attend Supply The Blockchain because I have always been curious about blockchain development. My goal was to become proficient in writing code in Solidity by graduation in order to pursue a career in the blockchain space.

As blockchain technologies grow in demand, there are an increasing number of courses available. Why did you decide to choose this program over others?

The instructor that encouraged me to join the program was an awesome teacher and a great programmer. He was very knowledgeable and there was alway gave guidance when needed.

For you, what were the pros and cons of attending an online bootcamp?

I believe that online bootcamps are very convenient. The online format allowed me to program in the comfort of my favorite learning environment. However, trouble-shooting code can get a bit messy when you are not in a classroom environment.

Tell us a little bit about the course structure. What did you like best about the environment and teaching style?

Even though the program was online, it felt like we were all in a classroom together. During discussions, we learned the key points and then broke out into groups to work on our code together.

How did this program prepare you for a career in tech?

I will now have a better understanding of blockchain as I enter the job market. Since many colleges don't offer blockchain development courses, I saw this as a great opportunity to get ahead.

What challenges did you overcome to get where you are?

It was a little tough balancing bootcamps while attending school, but it was definitely well worth it.

Tell us about what's next. How do you plan to use your skills in blockchain as you build your career?

I used the skills I learned at Study The Blockchain to land a job at the Chicago Crypto Capital as a contracting blockchain developer. While finishing college, I am able to gain valuable experience developing apps for companies that would like to implement blockchain internally. Working there has helped me grow as a developer.

What advice do you have for people who are interested in attending a bootcamp?

Be ready to learn and write down all your questions. You may not get to ask everything you need because it is fast paced. Seeing your notes later will help you think out of the box, and bring the question to the table when you feel that it is ready to ask.
