"Avocademy is great!"
I started Avocademy after being recommended by one of my friends, and I have had a great experience so far! I went through UX/UI Foundations, which gave me the guidance and structure I was looking for as I felt lost trying to learn UX/UI by myself. Mentors... Read More

"Gives You the Necessary Skills to Land a Job"
Pros:
Cost is reasonable and they have payment plans.
Guidance is research-based.
I did land a job after going through this program.
It gives transferrable job-hunting skills (resume, interviewing, presentation, etc) that help, even if you decide to not... Read More
Cons:
It sometimes feels like the optimism of the place doesn't match the current job market. Are people landing jobs after this bootcamp? Yes. Is it the majority of people that are in the program? No. To counter this, you must be prepared to improve yourself, your work, and your portfolio way more than the mentors tell you to and to apply and interview way more than you think you'll need to.

"Great Foundation"
Pros: As someone who is naturally curious yet cautious, it took me a year after discovering Avocademy to finally enroll, and I regret not doing it sooner. Having tried other boot camps, I can confidently say this program is far superior. It offers a comprehensive... Read More
Cons: I would have appreciated the inclusion of one more project to enhance my confidence upon completion. Perhaps accelerating the same process could allow students to finish with two projects for their portfolio.

The mentors were all so helpful. There were times where I had to get an extension to finish the foundations program, but everyone was so kind and understanding. There aren’t really any cons, I think if people commit to the foundations program me for example... Read More

"Fantastic Option For Learning UX/ UI Design!"
Pros:
The program provides an opportunity to upskill to an in demand job that could potentially change your life.
Avocademy costs a fraction of what you would pay at a college or even other similar bootcamps. The founder has said that she wanted to make... Read More
Even at the lower cost, there’s not a sacrifice in quality! I heard from another student who came to Avocademy after attending another UX/ UI bootcamp (that cost $15K) that the quality of education at Avocademy is the same or better than the other one they attended.
There’s a whole team of mentors and Student Success (kind of like guidance counselors) who are there to support you on your journey.
The program is 100% remote and, though you have deadlines, you can decide your own hours.
Even though it’s remote you won’t feel disconnected because we have groups on Slack where we chat, we get Loom videos from the mentors, and I’ve even collaborated with other students directly in the design using the chat function. Also you can schedule a zoom chat or Slack huddle with a mentor whenever you need it.
UX/ UI design is like a dream job if you’re creative, or if you like helping people, if you like interviewing people, if you like writing, graphic design. There are many jobs under the umbrella of UX UI so there’s really something for everyone.
If you’re worried about AI taking over tech jobs, definitely consider UX UI! The very nature of the job is human centered design, or creating designs that resonate with humans. And who is best placed to offer this? Humans!
Cons:
This course will require you to dig deep and work hard. It’s not just learning how to place things on a screen, it’s learning WHY we want to place things on the screen, where they should go and what weight and color they should be. It’s honestly a whole new way of thinking and can be a steep learning curve. But if you’re willing to put in the work you can have a whole new career on an extremely short timeline!
The mentors have high expectations from students. They won’t approve something until it’s 100% right so I’ve had projects where I’ve had to rework things up to 5 times. But it’s because they don’t want you to fail! They have a high work ethic and seem to really care about our success.
I mentioned remote as being a positive because it is for me, but if you’re someone who’s not used to working remotely, that can take some getting used to. Sometimes you have to be really proactive in reaching out for help. But the support is there when you do!
