Cada clase, cada desafío, y cada momento compartido con mis profesores y compañeros ha sido una fuente de inspiración y crecimiento personal y profesional. He adquirido no solo habilidades técnicas, sino también una nueva perspectiva sobre lo que significa ser parte de una comunidad tecnológica inclusiva y comprometida.

Terminar mis estudios en CodeOp es un logro del cual me siento muy orgullosa, espero sinceramente que nuestros caminos vuelvan a cruzarse en el futuro, ya sea en proyectos, eventos o simplemente para compartir nuevas experiencias.

Before signing up, I was torn between this bootcamp and another one also in Barcelona. I interviewed with both (the application process was a bit different) and got accepted into both, so the time for me to choose arrived. Curriculum-wise, I had previously... Read More heard of JavaScript and had started its introduction course on Codecademy, but I had barely heard of Ruby (the computational language taught in the other bootcamp), so I was already more inclined to choose CodeOp. However, this was not the main reason why I decided to join them. Firstly, I was in contact with alumni from both bootcamps: everyone who graduated from CodeOp was someone I would like to work with, super nice, and explained everything in great detail; also, I could see myself being like them, and there was a diverse representation. I also felt the sense of community I would later be a part of. At some point, I connected on LinkedIn with an old alumna from CodeOp who completed the bootcamp online from the other side of the world; when I thanked her for reposting my first project, she said (and I quote): "I try to help out as much as I can with exposure for the students at CodeOp within my international network. I've been there and want to give back to the community that got me to where I am now. It's a beautiful community, and I'm so happy to hear they continue to nurture this type of environment for people who are trying to switch careers." The experience with people from the other bootcamp was not as pleasant; they were mostly all men (so it was hard for me to see myself represented), and I felt mansplained at some points. Also, even they were telling me I should find a bootcamp that teaches JavaScript instead of Ruby. I was about to make a huge financial effort, and that was the point at which I decided on the community I wanted to be a part of and the language I wanted to learn. During my first days in the bootcamp, I realized I had made the right decision for me. I learned so much in such a short amount of time, and I think this is also thanks to being in such a supportive and safe environment. I got to spend every day with people who have gone through similar situations to the ones I've experienced, people who understood me. And I'm not only talking about my cohort, but also the instructors, employees, and CodeOp's CEO, Katrina. I also experienced significant personal and professional growth; I honestly feel like a different Maria from the one who started the bootcamp on July 3rd. I can only encourage you to choose CodeOp if you're considering entering the tech field. You will not regret it.

I really appreciated my instructor Germinal for his effective teaching methods and fast-paced approach. His support has been invaluable, especially as a beginner in the field. I would recommend his teaching style to anyone looking to learn software development. The teaching assistants and staff members at CodeOp created a supportive atmosphere throughout this challenging and intensive bootcamp. In general, they have an incredible and special community that is very supportive, and it is one of the perks of this bootcamp. I also want to acknowledge CodeOp's commitment to diversity and inclusion. When taking part in a bootcamp the atmosphere is extremely important as these courses are very intense and you experience loads of ups and downs. Ultimately, doing the bootcamp helped me find a job, so I can't be too down on it. There were many useful parts to the curriculum, and some of the learning/teaching methods were helpful in gaining a deeper understanding or more confidence on certain topics.... Read More It was definitely a plus to finish the course with some sort of portfolio. However, I was disappointed that they appointed a teacher for our cohort who had never taught before. As a former teacher myself, in my opinion, experience is absolutely vital to lead students successfully, and this person did their best but ultimately fell short of what I would have expected given how expensive this course is. Multiple times throughout the course the students in my group had to request extra help or clarification, and by the end I was pretty disappointed in the experience, as I'd been so excited to start and my expectations were based on the glowing reviews. They ask for feedback after the course and I mentioned some of these points, in much more detail, but no one ever got back to me or reached out for a chat which was even more disappointing. I would've thought they would be interested in improving students' experiences, but my lasting impression is that this is ultimately still a for-profit enterprise that doesn't really offer the support it initially seemed.

I would recommend CodeOp from any other bootcamp, it was a magical experience for me. I did the full-time full-stack development cursus and everything went beyond my expectations. Read More structure and organization, the instructor and Teacher assistants created a very good technical and emotional support atmosphere. Everything at CodeOp breath and transmits passion for coding. Also, the main plus of the school is based on their choice to be specialized for women and trans people, it is very much empowering and liberating to be able to grow in such a safe environment. I did not know, before taking this course, that it was possible to simply be heard, feel supported, recognized and valued for my true self.

The atmosphere on campus is so welcoming and motivating, that I'm going to miss it for a long time. I think what makes the difference is THEIR VALUES. Everything they do has a social effect and a very important main objective: eradicating the gender gap in tech. Being part of a small group of women with the same goals and concerns made me feel really supported. When I decided to enrol, I was unemployed, so they also provided me with financial support, thanks for that! Once the bootcamp is over, you become part of their community, where you share resources, network and job offers. Now it's time to enjoy this exciting new career!!!!

Our cohort was small, I believe 8 students. Our instructors were helpful and made themselves available outside of class time. It's a community I'll keep in touch with!
