I've just completed the 12-week MIT Applied Data Science Program, and it has been an incredibly enriching experience. Read More and others, Data Analysis, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and more.
The university professors brought a wealth of knowledge and displayed exceptional preparation during the live lectures, supported by excellent slides and detailed post-session summaries. Their recommendations of respected articles and books greatly enhanced the learning experience.
The industry experts from Great Learning provided clear and practical explanations for all my questions and offered valuable insights into the practical applications of the subjects. Learning and playing with the case study implementations based on the ipynb notebooks was particularly helpful, allowing me to immediately apply my newly acquired knowledge.
I also appreciated the choice of development environment. Google Colab was an excellent platform for sharing code and avoiding confusing issues with dependency management.
Completing my Capstone Project on Facial Emotion Detection using Deep Learning CNN has been particularly rewarding. While I recognize that this is just the beginning of my journey and I still have much to learn before I can independently implement data science and deep learning solutions, I am excited about the potential and eager to continue developing my skills.
I highly appreciate the dedication and expertise of everyone involved in organizing and delivering this program. It has been a truly transformative journey, equipping me with the foundational skills and confidence to advance in the world of Data Science.
If I were about to sign up for the program again, here’s what I would do to prepare. First, I would learn about the prerequisites and suggested reading materials. While the program offers a pre-work course, I wouldn't wait for it. I would get comfortable with simple Python collections and operations, as well as with NumPy and Pandas. The program refreshes Statistics knowledge, but it wouldn't hurt to brush up on the basics beforehand. Additionally, if you have the time and resources, taking a separate course on Linear Algebra can be very beneficial. The course doesn't require it, but if you take it seriously, it's worth doing in the long run.

All courses related to pre-work and introduction are precisely designed to immerse you in the course. Personally, with a background in banking and modeling, I thought I had learned all that was necessary, but I was thrilled to find that the modules after the initial course expanded my knowledge even further.
