"Got me what it promised!"
Great way to get into the startup world. Made lots of amazing connections, and I now have a full time job working as a designer -- and it's all thanks to the Startup Institute network. That being said, beware: you will not gain as many hard skills as... Read More

"Stressful but probably one of the best decisions I've made."
Like I said, it was really stressful but the program really equipped us with what we needed to be successful. Really proud to have been/continue to be part of an amazing group.

"Fast paced, immersive learning that pays off."
I joined as a career veteran wanting to reinvigorate my career and get introduced to the latest technologies, trends and the trendsetters. The program was hectic as hell, it is not a walk in the park if you are not fully committed. If you put all your... Read More

"Surrounded by great people"
Changing careers is hard. I found myself wanting a change but didn't know how to make it happen. I heard about the Startup Institute and quickly realized it was exactly what I needed to expand my network and figure out what the next steps in my career... Read More
From the 1st day, the people on staff and in the cohort were amazing. I continued to meet entrepreneurs and employees of young tech companies through the 8 week program. The common theme I noticed among the people was a passion for what they do. This was inspiring and helped me discover what I am passionate about and how that should factor into my next position.
In just 8 weeks, I realized the career change I was looking for and formed an amazing network in the tech scene in Chicago. My network of Startup Institue folks continues to grow nearly a year after I finished, and I firmly believe the program is worth the time and investment.

"Start up life begins here!"
Pros: Affordable investment for me because I was transitioning to land a job at start-up or doing a start-up. I landed a position in Paris because I wanted to learn the intricacies of being a founder. This would not have happened had I not learned digital... Read More
Cons: This is not like a college, masters ect. This is a long "job fair" so please do yourself a favor and start networking/interviewing for a job by week 5 or 6.

"What do you want to be?"
And not just that I want to be a developer, but that I want to be a backend developer at a socially conscious, early stage startup serving the healthcare space. Not just I that want to do marketing, but I want to do technical marketing and data analytics... Read More
Me? I wanted to be in sales, but after Startup Institute, I wanted to do outside business development and client-facing account management for an IT company poised to scale. And I made the connections I needed to find those opportunities. Plural.
Where I am in my career now, I would have figured out I wanted to be years down the road. Career accelerated-- thanks to the great team at SI.

"Effective transition that actually connects you to the people you need to know"
I loved SI. I came out of banking and found a group of people and a scene that allowed me to love my career for the first time. It's been a wild ride since then, and more has changed in my life in the past two years than in the previous six. That all... Read More
Pros:
-The people that surround you are unique and courageous. They have all quit their previous paths to strike out on a new path that they believe in, that inspires them. It's really hard to feel down when you're surrounded by that.
-The network that you are introduced to is real: you actually find a job building something that you want to be a part of.
-Dedicated and varied speakers/instructors that are actual practitioners rather than academics
-Practical content that can help you determine where you want to land after the program
Cons:
-Can be difficult for some to take time and not work (it's really difficult to make time for work during the program), but this can actually be a blessing, as it really helps you focus on yourself, your transition, and your plan for the future

"UX/UI designer"
The program refreshed my skills as a UX/UI practitioner and gave me the exposure I needed to catapult my career back into product design. The only miss was the lack of strong emphasis on Javascript which we all needed. The program has served me well and... Read More
