I had no exposure to programming before this course. All of my work experience is in the Health Insurance industry and owning my own small business. I say all that to explain that if I can learn to do this, anyone can!!!

I attended the Code Immersion... Read More Program in Charlotte where I learned Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS and got some exposure to JavaScript and JQuery. We met for class Monday - Thursday and after class was over the instructors stayed for office hours for 90 minutes to answer any questions. The office hours session was extremely helpful and most students stayed daily to get one on one help. After day 2 in the course I realized that I could not multi task in class, you have to give the instructor ALL of your attention. If not you'll miss a lot. This course is extremely fast paced and it takes effort to keep up, but if you want to learn to code in 8 weeks it's imperative to pay attention. The classes are intense, but we laughed a lot on a daily basis. The instructors are tasked to provide as much instruction as possible within those 8 weeks and they do just that. They were very knowledgeable and patient when I was stuck on something particular. I even had my instructor Lee volunteer to meet me over the weekend to walk me through a project we had gone over in class.

Also there were a few additional 2 hour workshops (i.e. Photoshop, Wordpress) that were available for us to attend, as well as the corporate tours and lecture series. For someone like me with absolutely no coding experience, having the opportunity to talk to successful individuals in the Charlotte Tech industry as well as going out to tour companies that are making an impact on our tech community was very eye opening. TTS also, had recruiters come in to give advice on resumes and making the most out of our job search.

During this experience I met a number of graduates of this program who are excelling in their new careers, which made me feel confident that I would find an opportunity that would be a great fit for me. Within days of completion of the program, I was offered an opportunity to work for a startup (risky I know) ! :) The founder was a TTS grad and I met him through networking at a TTS event.

This was a great experience that exercised my brain in ways I could not imagine. The course is not easy, but you can come out it being a knowledgeable programmer. It's not like a college course where you have assignments to turn in for a grade. This is all you! You have to put work in to this to be successful at it. I'm glad to have been a part of the Fall 2015 Cohort and happy to be TTS alum!

Hey everyone, I attended the full time immersion course in Charlotte, NC and I will say it was more than worth it. I spent roughly 3 months researching whether or not I wanted to attend a bootcamp and I mean aggressively researching. I decided on TTS... Read More since it was local and the price point is lower than most but please don't mistake the low price point for poor quality because you would be sorely mistaken. I went into TTS with some experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery which I acquired through Codecademy and Treehouse. I learned more in the first week of TTS than my 5 months of self teaching. TTS instructors were awesome and very helpful. At TTS you are expected to put in work, don't expect to just go in and then leave after the instruction, you need to be accountable for your own education and put in the work necessary, TTS can only help you so far and the rest is on you. TTS provided me with the skills I needed to land a job within 2 months after graduation. I usually never write reviews but I felt that TTS deserved a good review for how great they were and how much they have done for me on my journey to become a web developer.

Schedule and curriculum was all over the place. Different instructors all the time. Got behind because it is too fast paced/unorganized. Still paying for the rest of tuition knowing I got nothing out of it.

Gave a 2 for the instructors. They knew their... Read More stuff. Owners just want to bring people in but don't care as long as you give them $. I'm surprised there are any good ratings. Google TTS rip off report.

I recently completed the full-time Tech Talent South program in Atlanta. First, I will say that the Tech Talent South website does not lie when it says that you will learn a lot. From starting with HTML/CSS we moved into bootstrap and then into ruby and... Read More finally spending the majority of the time focusing on Ruby on Rails. In rails, we built a simple blog, twitter app, ecommerce app and many other projects during the course. After 8 weeks of almost non-stop coding in HTML/CSS, Ruby and Ruby on Rails I can honestly say that I learned quite a lot of material. I am still going through and digesting everything that my brain took in. Overall the course was very good and I felt that the instructors were very helpful. I often stayed after each class to do some more coding and an instructor was always present to answer any of my questions. Another great aspect of the course were the field trips/ guest speakers that came and spoke to the class. These experiences provided invaluable insight to the world of being a developer. I would highly recommend this course to anyone that was thinking about getting into the world of coding-for you will learn a lot!

I have programmed in different languages and have looked at some Ruby tutorials before the class so the material was not new. I started learning rails at the beginning of the year by myself an I decided to join the bootcamp because I felt that I was not... Read More making headway by myself. Most of the material was review for me and the teachers had trouble reaching the students. Though if I had questions the teachers were helpful and tried to answer to the best of their ability. There was a lot of support from the local staff but I did not feel that the TechTalentSouth founders cared about us, they treated us like we were "outliers". They need to update their website, it is annoying to use and buggy.

This class is amazing! You learn a TON of coding skills and the teachers are awesome! I came out of TTS with a portfolio I could use for interviews and an updated resume from tech recruiters TTS hooked me up with! They help you network with industry leaders... Read More and awesome local companies- making job hunting a much easier task!

I attended the part time code bootcamp with some experience in scripting as a system admin. I definitely learned a lot of useful stuff digging into the ruby and rails content. The good thing is there are many projects you do in class so it's not just... Read More all theoretical stuff. For the part time class I think TTS should extend it to make longer. Way too many topics were barely touched and therefore don't stick because we don't have enough time to go in depth with topics. The part time class should go at least 2 -3 weeks longer than the full time. The support is great with many talks and meet and greets with local tech companies every week. They also have a good job board.

In order to really reap the benefits you MUST spend time on your own doing things like Codecademy or CodeSchool to practice what you are going over in class.

Do I recommend The Full Time Code Immersion Program offered by Tech Talent South? Youbetcha. But only if you have the capacity to dedicate at least 6 hours per day for class and homework and you don't need to get a job as a senior programmer right after... Read More finishing. And this is why: this program is an excellent intro into coding. If you *think* you want to get into programming, but you really have no clue what it entails, this program is an excellent testing ground. If your goal is to go from 0 experience to full-stack developer, you won't get that here. But you will get a solid foundation -- something that is very hard to get via online tutorials and ebooks. And with that foundation, you'll be able to actually make sense of those online tutorials. This program is worth it because you get access to live, standing-right-in-front-of-you, human being instructors, so that you can ask those questions that you'd have no clue how to google. You get a whole pack of classmate friends to pair program with. You also get a strong source of accountability to show up to class every day and do the work (which is much easier to shirk when sitting at home in your PJs doing online tutorials when you feel like it). And last but not least, you'll get plugged right into the local tech community, which is in itself absolutely invaluable. The pace is fast. The lessons are poignant and useful. And you will walk away with very green junior developer skills that you will need to hone further before you become a god of code.

The pros of this program may be too many to mention (some known and some I'm still realizing, months later). Before TTS, I had no knowledge of coding (or even where to start) and the program was a great way to push me into this new skill. The instructors... Read More were patient and really willing to work you before, during & after class - as well as months later all for the cost of a happy hour drink. Not only did I get a base line in Ruby, but I feel that what I learned could be applied to learning other languages down the line, if I so choose.

The only "con" I could really mention about the program is actually something that isn't to be blamed on TTS, but more so on people's expectations after taking the class. Some of my classmates took the class and thought that they would come out in 8 weeks and be full time programmers, which just simply isn't realistic in our job market (specifically the city of New Orleans). The TTS program can give you a lot of tools to get to that point, but coding is like any other skill to master in that it takes time & effort to get to job worthy level. If it was able to picked up after taking 8 weeks of classes at 2 nights a week, everyone would be doing it and programmers wouldn't be able to get the salaries they get.

I would recommend to people thinking about taking this course to get ready to spend some time working on exercises outside of class (nights you don't have class & weekends) and talk with your instructors and other classmates about issues you're having. If you're really dedicated to learning, this class will get astronomically further then you think in just that short amount of time. (Plus they offer the ability to go back and sit in on any class you want, once you finish your course to give yourself a refresh if needed - which is really nice.)

I've taken the full time TTS program in Raleigh, and as someone who came in with no programming experience, TTS definitely helped me acquire the confidence & technical skills necessary in landing an entry level programming position. By the first week,... Read More we covered a large spectrum of ruby syntax . The rest of the weeks are spent on a variety of topics including recursion, SQL Database, AJAX, OAuth, API etc. The final week is spent on a group project where we are working with teachers and pair programming to build an app that integrates all or most of the concepts learned through the bootcamp. This final project can be as complicated as you dare to challenge yourself with, and the teachers will stay late / work overtime to answer your questions and make sure you to have something in your portfolio to show. Moreover, TTS is an incredibly safe and encouraging environment for learning. It teaches you to think like a programmer - how to debug, how to pair program and how to work in a team.
