Read More eCommerce Manager and helping me make informed business decisions while I work on my own business. Our instructor was a senior level Ruby programmer who adjusted the pace of the class to meet our needs and made himself available outside of class time. I am thankful TTS helped me get started in my endeavor to learn to code and they continue to be a resource to us even after the program ended.

I've long considered getting a degree in computer science. Due to the wide variety of jobs out there, I thought it made sense to get some first-hand experience in the one aspect which would be ubiquitous: coding.

Tech Talent South delivered on that front.... Read More I wasn't sure how proficient I'd be after 8 weeks, but any expectations I did have were exceeded. It's a great feeling to be able to immediately start building after being struck with an idea.

The classes were held in a very nice facility with plenty of space to work at all times.

The staff is a really solid group of people.

Richard (the Atlanta-based cofounder) was very approachable, and always pointing us toward potential internship / employment opportunities as well as advantageous social functions to attend.

TJ (the instructor) definitely has a passion for programming which was reflected in his teaching style. He also has a certain charisma which kept everyone engaged throughout the duration of the course.

Aaron (the TA) was extremely helpful and just generally pleasant to be around. He held a lab at the end of each week and was really good at tailoring them to the specific group that showed up.

Courtney (the community organizer) set up a multitude of local company tours and guest speaker sessions. The variety was such that despite all of our different goals, everyone was exposed to something beneficial.

All together it was a very positive experience.

I recently completed the part-time program at Tech Talent South. I had a really good experience and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of instructors and the level of support that was provided. I had been trying for months to teach myself Ruby on... Read More Rails but could not get the hang of it just by doing online tutorials. I decided I needed to find a program that could walk me through the process and answer my questions. Robby, the instructor, was great. He explained everything in detail, assigned relevant projects and made sure to evaluate how each student was progressing. I really liked how we worked in pairs and the fact that there were teaching assistants available to meet with us if needed (I never took advantage of this but was happy to know it existed). Richard, the co-founder was also great. He was available at the classes in case we needed anything and would check up on us often to see how we were doing. The level of support in this program was really good. One thing to keep in mind: This is a fast-paced program that covers a lot of material. Even with the support that is provided you do need to take the time and put in the energy to learn. That means working on the homework and doing additional tutorials to strengthen your understanding. If you do that you can definitely learn a lot!

I was a student in the first evening cohort of Tech Talent South. I was working as a graphic designer, mainly in print, and wanted to update my skills and learn to build web applications. What I got from Tech Talent South, in addition to a solid foundation... Read More from a very capable instructor, was empowerment to tap into the city's start-up scene and the knowledge of how to take an idea and develop it into a functional web application. I've now launched my own company and participated in two hackathons (which I probably wouldn't have before the program). TTS also brings great speakers, provides awesome class outings, and pairs you with a mentor, so you're not just sitting in class all night --- you're actually able to see how what you're learning applies in the real world. Also, the environment is very casual and comfortable, so you can ask questions without feeling dumb or lost, and you have lots of access to the staff and other students for additional help to keep you moving forward. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to learn to code in a supportive environment and be part of a community and network that's interested in your continued growth beyond the classroom.
