Read More but luckily I got recruited by Tech Talent South, who is making a great effort to engage women and minorities.

I attended the 8-week full-time Code Immersion course. The course focused on Ruby on Rails development, which was a great next step for me. I'm much better equipped to move beyond the html/css/php basics to do the kind of work that really inspires me.

While what I learned in the course was HUGE, the peer interactions, organizational support from TTS, and opportunities for networking and continued learning are just as valuable. I'm a BIG fan of online courses because of their accessibility and effectiveness, but there's a lot to be said for attending classes in-person, and especially for being part of a peer group. It was so inspiring and encouraging to be part of a small group of folks who were really committed to building new careers. In my case, as a middle-aged professional who is somewhat bored with my career options, it was energizing to be surrounded by highly intelligent young people! In addition, my classmates each had their own expertise and I learned plenty from other students. It's also really valuable to be able to ask questions in real time during a class.

If you're completely new to programming, I'd especially recommend this format, since it's as much a way to learn "how to learn" coding.

TTS offers great opportunities to meet and learn from pros in the field, and links students with networking opps, which has been great in terms of finding a career path. Meeting pros in the field has been a great help in identifying potential work as well as what I need to learn next.

The staff and instructors at TTS were great to work with, and I truly believe that their aim is to facilitate my success! The Code Immersion boot camp is a fast paced course, which requires extra study outside of class to understand how to navigate through the several technologies and programming languages covered. There are plenty of guided projects to get a good introduction with hands-on experience. The assistance from the instructors was useful and full of good guidance.

In the end, the value I've received from the courses has been well worth the cost. I would recommend courses with TTS for anyone who wants to dive into coding for web development, it is a very good base to springboard continued learning into other related languages and technologies used in web development.

I was looking for a challenge and did I find one. Boot camp was challenging and completely out of my comfort zone however, Ryan Hageman our CI instructor made it a smooth experience.

I signed up for a boot camp part time to see what I was missing for trying to learn on my own. I will say if you are thinking about signing up for any camp reviews, talking to former students, and meetups will help you find the right one for your life style. At Tech Talent South they were a big help in getting me started and building myself along the way. Coding is challenging no matter what but with help and good support you will take away a sense of accomplishment.

I enrolled in the part-time coding immersion program with no prior experience in coding. I thought this class was a very good introduction to many coding concepts, and upon finishing the class I felt that I had a great set of tools to continue learning... Read More and practicing on my own. The instructor was knowledgeable, experienced, and patient, and the community organizer was very eager to help introduce us to the tech community in our city. I also liked that this organization helps give back to the community through offering free kids coding classes. Perhaps the most valuable part will be the continued connection to the organization, as they are very good at keeping in touch with and engaging alumni.

Pros:

- flow of curriculum was well-paced, rigorous, and relevant
- well-rounded exposure to both front-end and back-end languages

- homework gets a little long/repetitive at times
- students might benefit from a more discovery-based approach to creating an app where they brainstorm what needs to put in place instead of being told

About me and my experience:
I had been a high school teacher for five years when I decided that I wanted to pursue a new career path. I knew I wanted to go into web development, but I wasn't sure how to go about it. I had basically no knowledge or experience. Should I enroll in a university? Should I take classes online? I wasn't sure. Then a friend of mine suggested the Tech Talent South Code Immersion class. It was simply the perfect fit. From being welcomed via email after I enrolled to meeting my instructor on the first day of class, everyone made me feel comfortable and important right away. It was clear that there was a structure of support already in place. I learned tremendously from my teacher and felt like I was really sinking my teeth into relevant information and skills. The community organizer was very enthusiastic and helpful in immersing the students into the code community and helping us make connections that could lead to jobs. I have only been out of my teaching job for six months and I'm already prepared to apply for a job as a developer. I can't thank Tech Talent South enough for making this all possible for me!

I attended Tech Talent South's Fall Full-Time Code Immersion program in 2017 and I must say, especially for the price, I feel like I made a really good choice. Tech Talent South is new in Phoenix and at the beginning of the program, that really showed.... Read More Some of their essential positions weren't filled and it felt like we weren't getting the program we were promised. However, the staff at TTS realized that this was an issue and moved to address the issues swiftly. They brought in a great instructor and hired a fabulous community organizer, both of which hit the ground running when they started. The program and what I got out of it improved ten fold when they came onboard and I feel like I'm ready to finish up my portfolio and start applying for jobs.

Now that these pieces are in place for Phoenix, I see TTS disrupting the Bootcamp scene in Phoenix and that should make any prospective student excited.

Heather, was an awesome instructor, she's got a great balance of practical experience, and patience to teach. I taught myself enough php to make an app prior to starting this course. What I got from the course was a foundational education of programming in a current and in-demand language.
