I can assure you that this is not an easy way to enter the industry. You need to be well-prepared, and Avocademy ensures that by offering exceptional support and mentorship. This program is worth it if you are serious about committing yourself and switching to UX UI Design.

The Career Jumpstart program was intense but rewarding, with a strong focus on job search strategies - be sure to follow their advice! While the job market can be challenging, Avocademy's support made the process much more manageable.

Thanks to the skills and confidence I gained at Avocademy, I received two job offers, including one through a referral from a former mentor at Avocademy. The program truly equipped me with the tools I needed to succeed.

If you're willing to put in the effort and fully utilize the resources Avocademy offers, this boot camp can open doors you never thought possible. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about transitioning into UX/UI design—it was absolutely worth it!

Background:
I started Avocademy fresh out of undergrad knowing that I wanted a career in UX/UI design. I had a fundamental knowledge of UX/UI design prior to starting. I worked full-time in a different role throughout my entire time enrolled in the Foundations... Read More and Career Jumpstart programs. I was in the job search phase for around 7 months until I got a job offer.

Pros:
- Mentorship is readily available 7 days a week. This is especially important when you are job-searching and needing interview prep.
- The mentorship is EXTREMELY helpful. I couldn't have been prepared for my interviews without that assistance.
- The course content is easy to follow and is constantly being updated. Avocademy takes feedback from users seriously and implements changes.
- Feedback for assignments and portfolio/resume submissions is thorough, and given in a timely manner. Mentors are communicative and helpful both during online meetings and through DMs.
- There are plenty of opportunities for leadership which can be very helpful during the job search. During Career Jumpstart, try to be a team leader in a project.

Cons:
- The job search phase of Career Jumpstart is exhausting. Please be prepared to apply to 240+ jobs per month and/or work on additional projects if you'd like to add to your portfolio. This is very doable if you schedule your time well and make sure to include days off, but just know that it can be draining, especially if you are already working a full-time job.
- You may or may not be referred to jobs by Avocademy themselves, and even then, it's up to many different factors whether or not you get an interview.

TLDR:
My experience with Avocademy was positive, as I ended up getting a job in the UX/UI field with their guidance. That being said, the experience is what you make of it. Make sure to do your best during projects and ask questions, meet with mentors, and keep up with the job search requirements. The job search is hard, but a lot of it is up to luck and other factors. I felt discouraged at times, but mentors helped make me feel supported and I am glad I didn't give up.

I finished UX/UI Foundations. If you don't understand recorded lecture videos, you can read the written version of what has been explained in videos + articles (In my case, only by watching the lecture videos, I was able to understand the lessons). After submitting an assignment, I received mentor feedback if I needed to edit/correct my work. Later, in the course, the feedbacks were given through videos, so it was easy to understand how to edit my work better.

When I got stuck, I booked a 1:1 tutoring class. I found availability the next day, and sometimes even on the same day. The course went smoothly for me! Everything was so organized!

Since the start of my Foundations course, I've noticed and appreciated the fact that Avocademy has been actively updating their curriculum to stay up to date with industry standards. Along with consistent seminars with guest speakers and additional shared resources, I am confident in Avocademy fostering an understanding of how to navigate my future UX role in the workplace.

When researching different bootcamps, Avocademy's unlimited mentorship was a huge deciding factor for me. For the price and overall student experience, I would highly recommend Avocademy.

I wish the Avocademy foundations course would have taught more about figma and more about design concepts. I also wish I would have go the option to use ux folio.
