"data driven decision making"
I truly love the online community at this school—it made me feel like I was part of a supportive and engaging body. The pre-recorded classes, along with the live mentorship sessions, were incredibly helpful, and the course content was simplified in a... Read More
If there’s any con, it would be on my end. Due to external factors like issues happening in my country and other events, I wasn’t always able to give my full focus to the course. However, the school was extremely patient and offered assistance wherever possible, helping me stay on track. Now, I'm revisiting all I've learned to better prepare myself for the job market, and I couldn’t be happier with the foundation the school has provided me. If it's possible, I would love to take more courses at Great Learning MIT IDSS in the future!

"Great Learning platform was well-structured"
I believe that the approach to learning a new subject quickly varies from person to person. It also depends on whether the goal is to pass a test or to apply the knowledge practically in real-world scenarios. The MIT course I took through the Great Learning... Read More
Through this course, I was able to start my data career in a way that was both enjoyable and strengthened my foundational knowledge and expertise. This was a key difference from other programs, which often focus on theoretical approaches that require a longer time to adapt to practical data applications. The most important aspect of this program was that it sparked our interest in data, reigniting my motivation and providing a strong incentive to continue studying in the future. This is where I found its value to be particularly high.

"This was what I was looking for, but it might not be for everyone."

What Worked:
Flexibility and Accountability: The program’s design made it possible to balance work and study effectively. I could study at my own pace during the week and focus on the mandatory sessions over the weekend. The deadlines each week kept me motivated and on track, helping me dedicate at least an hour a day to my studies. This structure really worked well for me without feeling overwhelming.
Supportive Program Management: Ken Chan, our program manager, was fantastic. She went out of her way to ensure that each of us had what we needed to succeed, offering personalized support and extra resources when necessary. Her approach made the whole experience much smoother.
Experienced and Engaging Instructors: The course didn’t start perfectly—we initially had an instructor who didn’t quite hit the mark, which made the first few sessions less engaging. But after we shared our feedback, the program quickly brought in new mentors, Eren Zedeli and Paolo Esquivel. Both were not only knowledgeable but also genuinely interested in helping us succeed. They made themselves available both during and outside of class, which was incredibly valuable.
What Could Be Improved:
Class Timing: As a morning person, I loved the early morning weekend sessions we had at first—they fit perfectly into my schedule. However, when the classes were moved to noon, it became a bit of a challenge. The two-hour sessions took up a significant chunk of the day, which wasn’t ideal. Although I was offered a chance to switch back to morning sessions, it would have meant changing my team, which I wasn’t keen on at the time. I think the experience would have been better if the sessions had consistently been in the mornings or if attendance hadn’t been mandatory for grading.
Course Pacing: The course provided a solid grounding in the basics, but I felt we spent a bit too much time on these early topics. That time could have been better used for the more advanced sections later in the program. When we got into machine learning, the pace felt rushed, and I found myself needing more time to absorb the material fully.
Overall Thoughts: One of the reasons I chose this program was its reasonable pricing compared to other courses that can cost up to $8,000. For me, it was definitely worth the investment. The course gave me a strong foundation in data science and data analytics, and I now feel confident in applying these skills to real-world situations. I’m also planning to continue my studies, focusing more on machine learning and AI.
While this program was perfect for me, I recognize that it might not be for everyone. If you need clear deadlines and a structured environment to keep you on track, this program could be a great fit. But if you prefer a more flexible or less structured approach, you might find it a bit challenging.
Overall, I’m really satisfied with what I’ve gained from this course. It has equipped me with the basic tools I need to move forward in this field, and I’m excited to keep learning and growing in data science and AI.
