I am very glad I took this course. Since I work in a completely different field, this course helped me to get a great understanding for UX, especially how to conduct great user research. Read More are recommended to follow a six month phase to complete the course but if you are motivated you can go a lot faster than that. I completed the course within two months but I was also doing this for almost full time. The course consists of different projects and online videos. The online videos are very good with great explanation of the theory. You are also being recommended to read about 10 books but you don't have to read them to complete the course. The books are good to get a better understanding. I only read one of the books (no time to read the others). You get great support from other students and from their student success team. They are very helpful and friendly. This course is great if you need some kind of documentation for your skills.

I was looking for a framework that offers a certain level of curriculum guidance and reassurance that I am learning the right things, as well as a tutored course so that I get feedback on my work. And something that is not as expensive as the likes of... Read More General Assembly, accepting that I do not have a personal tutor/mentor. The curriculum is okay, I did need to spend more time than the estimated 5 hours/week to study and deliver my projects. Good in terms of content, just relevant to keep in mind to balance with the time you have. I was expecting more specific and useful feedback to the projects I submitted. The majority of projects were scored simply with pass/fail, no other feedback - which is not very helpful in terms of learning. The interaction with the mentor and school tutors felt quite impersonal to me, being only in writing via chat. The webinars didn't feel like adding that much value, since they had very similar to content to previously recorded ones which I'd watched. Overall, it's an acceptable experience - enough to get you started and curious about the field of UX and to give you direction on how to educate yourself further. As I don't think this course is enough for someone to straight away start into a UX Designer job or to build a good enough portfolio.

Being accredited by a university was one of the main reasons I signed up for this course, but what I liked most about it was the support from UX professionals whenever I had issues on a project. There are some top notch mentors who give valuable feedback on each student's project which helped me gain UX knowledge significantly. This is one of the best online courses I have ever taken. The lectures are very clearly explained and not boring or dry at all (for me it's the main drawback of online courses). One feature requirement from me is that I want to be able to project the videos to a larger screen like a TV from my mobile phone (only the video itself, not mirror the phone's screen) so I can watch them more conveniently.

The whole curriculum is outdated and it seems like they have been recycling the same materials for more than 5 years. I was recommended to take up a UX design by a friend who was in the field already and saw that I had potential in it. Thus after much research, I found the UX Design Institute and its curriculum impressive and attractive. After enrolling, I was never left disappointed, the video lectures on every module by Colman were easy to understand and kept you attentive. The projects pushed you towards actual work-like scenarios and they were so fun to do. The best part I would say was the support from the team, they reply fast and are always encouraging with feedback and guidance. I have now completed the course and am currently job hunting, although nervous to embark on this new journey, I am confident with the new skills and knowledge I have acquired to push me through the next step. The MA is actually unnecessary though as you can start building an excellent portfolio solely with what you learn from UXDI, and it can easily start a new career.
