The course offering is a great method but the issue is the current electricity crisis that has led to multiple requests for extensions from me as a student along with multiple other factors. The course creates a lot of opportunities and has skilled me to better navigate series of opportunities around Tech.

Read More 1-2 weeks so not help when stuck - Even if you finish all tasks perfectly, you will not get a certificate of completion UNLESS YOU YOURSELF secure an interview. - You will only be eligible for a possible university co-certification if you also secure a job (by yourself of course) by a set deadline. - Skills taught are VERY basic

My experience with HyperionDev's bootcamp was extremely disappointing. Despite putting in a lot of effort, the course content was subpar, with outdated and error-ridden PDF documents. While the live lectures were acceptable, technical difficulties often... Read More prevented them from being delivered smoothly. What's worse is that HyperionDev is receiving tax-payers' money for a program that fails to deliver quality education. The CEO's behavior was unprofessional, with students being verbally bullied and banned from Discord for simply asking questions. Now, only 50% or less of the coursework is needed to pass the WHOLE bootcamp! The other more tough coursework are optional! However, students are warned that marking these optional tasks may take a long time, with feedback possibly taking months. I had high hopes for the bootcamp to change my career, but it turned out to be a waste of 3-4 months of my life. Therefore, I strongly advise anyone to avoid this company.

I did the UK Government-funded bootcamp in Web Dev, which wasn't full-stack. Positives: - the lecturer we had - meeting other students who were helpful and supportive (hands down the best thing about the course, which is probably why they removed the... Read More forums where we could connect). Negatives: - no learning environment or platform: it's just a Dropbox of pdfs and a lot of them aren't a great quality (confusingly written, especially what you're meant to do for the tasks, and lots of mistakes or out of date info) - really hard to get the 1:1 support that's promised - the support systems kept changing and sometimes you had to wait weeks for problems to be solved or to receive clarification - lots of automated emails were sent incorrectly - communication to students from some of the top people at the company was really bad - human code reviews were very inconsistent and comments were copied and pasted sometimes (with wrong names and wrong task details) - the Discord server had channels removed very suddenly so students were left with nowhere to talk - confusing info about how to get the certificate (seems you have to get a job to get the certificate, which makes little sense) - even less info about how to get a certificate that's got a university name on it (still not a lot of clarity about this) - advertised university partners weren't even confirmed at the start of the course - internet at HypDev headquarters is so bad that some lectures got abandoned halfway through (this happened about twice) and mentor calls were interrupted for ages when they're already really short - some mentors couldn't help (didn't seem to have enough knowledge) - a week got taken off the length of the course (made it tricky to finish, and some people didn't because they've got less time than they thought) - doesn't actually prepare you for a job - no guaranteed interview like you're told there is - right at the end, people who hadn't finished the course suddenly heard they'd completed it because a majority of the tasks were suddenly made "optional" - students are very, very unhappy about this - students were banned from forums for asking legitimate questions - students were disenrolled and given no reason or evidence for it. Avoid this course! You shouldn't take it for free - you definitely shouldn't pay for it! I've chatted to students who started the paid course before any government bootcamps started. They confirm that many of the issues above were already there before they took on hundreds of UK students.

I have had a good experience studying data science with HyperionDev. I chose the 6 month part time online option as it made the most sense while working full time. It has been great choice as I had full flexibility in when I could complete the studies... Read More and tasks. The first two levels are quite straightforward as the course material is very thorough in teaching you the basics. Mentors mark tasks quickly and give individualized feedback which is greatly appreciated. The third level - Machine Learning, is quite a bit tougher as the tasks are a little more taxing. However, as a student, you can book a call with a mentor to go over the difficulties you are facing within the tasks. Their assistance is invaluable in helping you to understand the content. HyperionDev was also very accommodating to me when I was unable to complete all the tasks within 6 months due to the birth of my son - they provided course extensions without me having to pay extra for the extension.

As the title states, HyperionDev is refusing to award certificates to students. Imagine working hard for 3 months to be told we won't award you a certificate even though you've completed the course. On starting the course, all students are informed they... Read More will receive a certificate if all tasks are completed. Now, at the last minute, near the end of the course, they have informed all students unless you: 1, Complete all tasks AND 2. receive an interview at a company before 31st March we won't give you a certificate Clearly, they have implemented this to ensure they get paid by the UK DfE. The UK government is funding this dodgy organisation, so will be contacting them to inform them of this clear breach of the rules. HyperionDev needs to change their dodgy tactics. Until they change this, I cannot recommend, and urge others to apply elsewhere. Anywhere but here!

I am DfE funded student with a 70% completion. Have I learned something new - yes, Did it make me a Web Developer -no, Did I get a job in a field -no. I don't think I will get it in a near future. Read More new to programming -you have a full/part-time job -you have family .amoun of time they claim you need to study doe not represent reality, because a lecture on its own lasts at time 3 hours(most of the time it is not justified, simply dragging), then you need to read the study material and when you get to the compulsory tasks you realise that all the information you have been consuming is irrelevant in many scenarios and you start digging the internet. .as part of compulsory tasks they require you to apply for the relevant jobs, bear in mind you do not have any of the skills asked in job descriptions. .a support. they claim it is available at every corner but this is not valid. To get a mentor call in order to get help with a subject, you have to book a week ahead and like in my case, for almost two months these were not available in the evenings, so you are on your own. .inconsitency in expectations, for some reviewers your code doe not meet the criteria for others it might be excellent and vice versa. .tasks for the subjects are written on the lap, without an appreciation of what students should know. It is your choice. The purpose of my honest review is to warn aspiring developers and spur improvement in the HyperionDevs program.

I have found the course to be somewhat frustrating due to the lack of support. Mentors are no longer available through Discord which has meant up to a two week wait simply to be able to receive help via a 1:1 call – this is not in line with the quota... Read More of 8 mentor calls per month. On one occasion the mentor was unable to help and said they would speak to a colleague and get back to me – I did not hear back from the mentor despite sending a chaser. On another occasion the mentor was unable to assist during 1:1 call (after waiting two weeks for the appointment) because they had not covered this topic before (Django II). Emailing the support team has meant delays of up to one week, simply to hear that my problem is being looked into. For someone who has no previous coding experience, it is hard to explain the disappointment and frustration at the lack of support/follow up. I had previously raised concerns about falling behind with course work and the response was ‘Please try to catch up as much as you can. You are more than welcome to contact us a week before your support end date to discuss your extension options.’ There have been some improvements, such as more realistic submission dates for course work (despite two of the tasks having dates that are beyond my 6 month course duration). Whilst I have been enjoying the course content and the reward of good feedback/grades following course submissions, the lack of support adds unnecessary anxiety, especially as I approach the final quarter of course. Ultimately, I have lost confidence in their ability to deliver this course.
